I know this is nothing to do with the wonderful people at nraas industries, but after a break of a few months, I decided to play sims 3 again and when I go to Origin to start it, it isn't there.
Has anyone else had this problem?

sheridanhoughton, Are you sure you're in the right account? That would be the most obvious explanation: that you're using the wrong email address to sign into Origin. In case you'er not completely sure, you can look inside Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3 > Downloads for a file labeled [your email].bin. That's the email address you were using before and the one you need to use now.

As an aside, this might be the first time in decades that EA has done (or rather not done) something to demonstrate actual affection for their "beloved Mac users" as the official forums always so proudly described us. Everything else they've done or neglected to do to or for us in regard to TS3 suggests a relationship so abusive that the Social Workers should have taken us all away for our own protection long ago.

You mean like dangle 64-bit Sims 3 just out of reach for a full year, then release a build so janky and full of new bugs that those of us with the option to do so went running right back to the Windows version?
Anyway, I have full confidence that whenever the EA App for Macs does arrive, it will run worse and be more poorly maintained than its Windows cousin.

I'm pretty sure the problem isn't that I'm in the wrong account, as sims 4 is still working. And I bought both games on the same account. and they both still work on my old laptop, just not on my new one. But they worked on my new one previously.
I have sent a help query into Origin/EA. I have had 3 different people answer that so far, but still no results.
what I would really like is a game that was a combination of sims 3 and 4 - with the open neighbourhoods that can be edited, lovely worlds created by non EA people, and the fabulous mods from nraas combined with the extended behaviour of the sims in sims 4. Wishful thinking.

The Sims 4 base game is free to play now, so if you don't own any packs, you might not notice that you're in a secondary account.
If you're definitely in the correct account, sign into ea.com with that same account, open your account profile, click Order History, and look for orders that correspond to when you bought or registered Sims 3. The entries might be cryptic, for example mine from when I registered the base game doesn't say anything about Sims 3 at all, but it does have an order number that a support rep could look up for reference.
Take screenshots of at least a few orders, and email receipts as well if you have them. Then contact EA customer support:

When you submit the help request, you can upload the screenshots. I'd strongly suggest choosing live chat rather than email, which is highly ineffective. If you don't see the option, change the location in your browser window to U.S. or U.K., or choose a slightly different category of issue.
