Inactives and Married Homeless Sims developing Romances with other NPCs...

Post by 95mmaa » April 1st, 2023, 7:32 am

Hey everyone!

So, I've noticed a few things happening in my game so far:
  1. I like to inspect the family trees of homeless sims to see which of them are suitable for moving in. The thing is, some homeless families start out as the standard nuclear family; two parents and a child (or children). However, after a while, when I check their Family Trees using MC again, I discovered some of them have developed Romances with other NPCs. For example, one homeless household initially consisted of an opposite-sex couple with a kid. A while later, I come back to check in and one of the spouses is in a same-sex relationship with another random homeless sim. The issue is that the family tree starts getting wonky, as Sim A shows up as married to Sim B, but when clicking on Sim B, the new love interest shows up as their boy/girlfriend and the link to the other spouse is broken. The child still shows up as the product of both parents, but the marriage link is messed up. I have both SP and Woohooer installed, and my settings are based on a TS2 game-play style, so inactives shouldn't be forming romances or getting married on their own. (I found this thread: chatterbox/topic1915 from a while back explaining a similar and was wondering if the culprit was found?
  2. I was recently playing a Sim in Sims University and two Inactive sims started woohooing in an igloo. I found this out because the woohoo music suddenly started playing which caught me by surprise!
  3. Another situation I've noticed is when the game generates a homeless couple who are only boyfriend-girlfriend at first, but checking in later, I come to find out they apparently got married.
So, is there something that I'm missing here? Is it something to do with Woohooer? I keep getting confused around the 'Link to StoryProgression' and 'Check for user-directed...' settings in Woohooer and whether I should keep them linked/set to true or not. Like I said, I follow a TS2 play-style, so this sort of autonomy shouldn't be taking place...

Last but not least, I have a couple of resorts in my homeworld and I read somewhere that it's possible for inactives to get married at one of them if a wedding arch is present. Does this apply to homeless sims? What is going on?

  1. I don't think that it is needed to look at the homeless or service sims family tree -> generated by the game
These sims are not "real" sims, of course you can make one of them a "real" resident", but that's all.
    Scroll to Homeless part

  2. Check your Whoohooer Settings, is this maybe set to false? "Disallow"

Look for the "Progression Denied" part here Woohooer-FAQ#Why-can-t-I-see-the-Woohoo ... of-my-sims

In the Caste for Service, Homeless, Roles you should check if Romance Allow is true?
set "Allow Romance" to "False"

@C-Dark - Thank you so much for your response! <3 For the first point, the only reason why I like to check Homeless Sims' Family Trees is because I like to move in teens/children who have parents (at least two generations)... It's just a preference thing to make the family trees look "neater" when I match them to my resident teens as potential romantic interests. ;)

I took a look at your other links and I set 'Disallow Homeless Autonomy' to True. For some reason, it was set to False. I'll wait to check and see if I still need to modify the settings of the Homeless/Service Castes.

As for "Progression Denied", after reading through the Woohooer FAQ, I came to the conclusion that it would better to just set both 'Link to SP' and 'Check User-Directed...' to True. For now, I can still see Romantic interactions, as well as options for Woohoo/Try for Baby. Will see if that gives me any trouble later... Thank again!
