Script Errors when Travelling to University.
Is is normal for Traveller to throw a big script error when sims either arrive at university or return home? By 'big' I mean bigger than any of the usual script errors I get: the in-game notification stretches right down to the bottom of the screen. I don't recall seeing that any like that before, but it's been happening ever since I installed TS3 on a new laptop. Apart from a bit more cc everything is set up pretty much as it was before. I'm worried that something is going wrong.

No. But when a mod throws script errors, it should be logging them as xml files among the other script errors in the TS3 user game folder in Documents. In order to have chance to determine what is happening there, might we be able to read the script logs being generated at this time or very shortly thereafter?

I've been trying to do that. Am I supposed to just drag and drop the XML files? When I tried to do that all that happened was an orange bar appeared with the word Processing... in it. But nothing seems to get processed for a very long time. It's not working.

It's fine, we don't really need to see the script logs in the message thread (this one). That's just meant to be a convenience. The logs uploaded and we can see them on the site's upload area.
Remove the MoreSimsinClubs (MSC) mod and try again if you could. The mod causes the game to have heartburn over world travel transitions and that seems to be what is happening here. If the mod behaves itself the rest of the time, you might consider putting it back again later, when there's no travel plans coming up anytime soon.

Yes, thank you, that worked! And now I think about it MSC is the only thing I've added since the 'big move' and that was after my last lot of sims graduated. Oh well, I suppose I can do without that mod for a while. My clubs were getting a little too busy actually, and not just clubs: any community lot my sims visited suddenly became very crowded (my old laptop would never have stood the strain!). Perhaps I'll follow your advice and keep it for when my sims are settled and not fixing on doing any travelling.
Again, thanks.
Again, thanks.
