Mod downloaded and in folder, but not appearing

Post by devonsona » January 2nd, 2023, 7:57 pm

Hi,
I'm really new to mods and cc stuff so I'm sure I'm just missing a step but I downloaded the Woohooer Mod and It won't appear in-game. I downloaded it, extracted it from the ZIP file, and put the file into EA > Sims 3 > Mods > Packages and nothing shows up in the game. The folder does work as I have a Hijab mod downloaded in it that works but I can't get this one too :( !!
If needed I have a legitimate copy of the sims 3, with some CC, Pets, Late Night, Island Paradise, Supernatural, Gen, Uni, and Future + store content towns and items.
Sorry if the answer was somewhere on site but I'm having a hard time understanding and finding info, again I've played for a decade but never with mods till as of late.
Thank you for any help!

Mod downloaded and in folder, but not appearing

Hi there. The one step I don't see mentioned here is that whenever the contents of Mods > Packages changes in any way, but especially when adding, removing, or updating Script Mods like Woohooer, the scriptCache.package file on the top level of your TS3 user game folder should be cleared (deleted). A new cache will form on the next startup of the game.

While you are there though, do a check (right-click, Properties) of the file called DeviceConfig.log on the same level as the caches. Its Modification Date and Time should exactly match the last time you started up the game. If you aren't sure, then check it the next time you start up. If this file is and remains stale, it means you have another game folder somewhere on your system such as in OneDrive that the game is actually reading from instead of the intended one.

And finally, what makes you conclude that Woohooer is not loading? It may or may not show up on a "ScriptMods Found!" pop-up list at startup, but the sure way to check is to see if you have an NRaas > Woohooer menu on City Hall or in-game computers.

It is in fact because of my onedrive. I'm having one hell of a time trying to get rid of it too and transfer the files, been playing for months on this computer so its taking so long :,)
thank u for the help, I would've never figured it out I literally had no clue it could do that!

Personally I have no use for OneDrive, at least not as an automatic backup or cloud replication system, because I have other tools for these things. So one of the first things I do on any modern Windows system is uninstall OneDrive entirely as it's activated by default. The game being from such an earlier time doesn't expect it to be there and have its own Documents folder get in the way.

But at the very least, if not entirely uninstalled or deactivated, it should be instructed to leave your "real" TS3 user folder alone.
