How to select individual sims for a caste in SP?

I need to make a caste for blood-relations; I have several families that are a part of the main family (cousins, grandparents, parents, brothers/sisters) who are not part of the "active family" (they live in separate houses, But I still want to control what they do and who they bring into the family - Yeah, Asian families are like that). So I need to figure out how to pick and choose sims to be a part of that caste.
