Hi all,

I've just started again to use the mods, after about 2-3 years of absence from the Sims 3 world, and I could use some refresher course on how to do this and that with mods

I seem not to find anymore some features I used in the past, so I'm a bit confused, maybe some mods have been updated, improved and with that some parts are changed

if it doesn't annoy the more experienced users, I'd like to post on this thread some "how to" questions while using some mods, as I'm sure many of you can point me in the right direction fast

1. How to add funds to family funds
- I know how to do it manually by typing "familyfunds (household name) funds' to be added/substracted
- but I remember I used to do it with a mod, just clicking some options, and/or settings, not typing
- I think it was in Master Controler > Household> Family funds (or something similar) but I can't find it there

2. How to add/remove Lifetime Rewards
- this one was very annoying to me without mods, because I aim for some level of realism, and it was unrealistic to have a senior sim, say mom and dad of an adult sim, with kids of his own, with no Lifetime rewards points, or skills, like living almost an entire life and not having any skills, or lifetime rewards, it's entirely unrealistic to me, so I usually make some adjustments to a new household I'm placing to the world
- if I remember correctly, used to be under MC > Intermediate, but now I can't find it

3. How to add skills based on a saved template
- I used to set up and save a custom template of skills set for like kids, teens, adults, and seniors, and just apply the saved template, as needed when needed, and once the template was saved, it was a relatively fast process to set some skills for a sim, or the entire family
- now I can't find that setting, can't remember where I need to go to set up and save that skills template, and then how to quickly apply to a sim

maybe I need to do some extra settings on Master Controller, or Debug Enabler, or something else, I can't remember and that's why I need some extra help, some extra guidance

now that's just some basics, please give me some clues and point me in the right direction

I may have some new questions in time and I'll add them to this thread

All three of those interactions come under the Master Controller Cheats module. Search on the Master Controller Documentation page and you will find them all marked with the cheats module name.

It sounds like you may not have the Cheats module installed, or not installed correctly.

yes, indeed, I didn't install the MC Cheats, I completely forgot about it, but I'll do it asap and check it out...

thank you, that was it, after installing the MC Cheats also, now everything seems to be working fine, as I'm used to, as intended

nice spotting the problem, that's why I was asking for help because I had a feeling I am missing something

now, a few extra questions if I may, as I play, it keeps coming back to me

I used to be able to place and use the items for commercial lots on a household regular lot... I think there is a setting or a distinct mod that does that, but I can't remember how to enable this again

now, I'm also confused about one specific item in the Showtime EP there is a "divider" that has nice environmental value and also functionality, and I was using that a lot

it used to be found (if not wrong) in the sculptures or miscellaneous section of the Buy mode

now, it appears I can't find it anymore in the regular Buy mode, but it's in the commercial Buy, like on the Dive bar and such other places to be used

about this specific item I am very confused as I think I used to simply buy it, not even using Buy from commercial items, but just simply buy it whenever I needed it - I could be wrong, my memory is fussy, but I don't remember going through so much trouble just to get that item

now while it's not the end of the world if I can't get the item, I'd like more to understand how it works and how to fix it, how to make that item available in regular Buy mode for any household

I believe the mod you're looking for could be Buzzler's "BuildBuy Restriction Choker" which is part of the "Builder Stuff" mod found on MTS. Look under the Download tab there to find it.

thank you again, I think that was it, I even forgot about that other site with extra mods... I'll install it now and try it asap

as a side note, a correction on my part about that item I was talking about named "Divider" it's from EP Nightlife, not Showtime...

if EA is making and dropping any updates, I'm puzzled to see they moved that particular item to the commercial-community lots Buy mode only...
if Ea is not doing any last-minute updates, then it must be the mod I've been using, I guess... I'll figure it out soon...

another question that's from odd behavior I just found

one of my sims, a genie, just summoned some "beef pet food" and allow me to emphasize it's "beef" not gourmet pet food

it comes as any plate of food, not in the sim's inventory, but a plate that's placed on a table, counter, or on the floor

it appears I can't do anything with it... the pets won't eat it, and I can't actually use it in a regular pet bowl for food, since nothing happens when I click on it, no interactions can be done, like I was expecting maybe to "fill upo bowl" or something like that

so, any idea on what can or should I do with this "beef pet food"..??..

Can you not move/drag the homemade beef pet food to your human sim's inventory and then fill the pet bowl with it from there by clicking on it while in-inventory?

Gourmet Pet Food is the class of object. It comes in three flavors -- beef, chicken, and I think fish but other than recipe to create it, all of those should behave the same once there and in a bowl. It's not burned or of Horrifying quality or anything like that, is it?

indeed, I cannot move/drag the beef pet food bowl into the sim inventory, there is apparently nothing I can do with it once it's on the ground or on a counter/table

when I click on it, just the NRAAS option appears, nothing else...

someone said on another forum, that I should have a regular empty bowl, and then clicking on the beef pet food bowl or the empty bowl will allow me to "fill up" the empty bowl... yet, this is not happening, that's why I'm a bit confused...

it's not critical for the gameplay experience, but I just want to know how to make it work, if it can work...

Strange, but as you say that shouldn't be game-breaking. If you wish to troubleshoot further, you might try preparing a fresh batch of homemade pet food (whatever the game wants to call it, gourmet, beef, etc.) on a test run with only NRaas mods present to see if some third party cooking or other mod is the source of interference.

Or it could just be the game being it's weird, charming self on you. Can't say I've ever seen this happen though. Most of my pet owners cook homemade pet food for their furry friends (and their cats and dogs too) at least occasionally if not every day.
