I am finding that for the life span length I prefer Epic. One thing I have noticed was I would like to change the whole town sims pregnancy from EA's 3 days to 9 days (three days for each trimester).
Question number 1, How do I tell if anyone in the world is pregnant?
Question number 2, What are the settings to change a pregnancy length?
Which Mod? Two questions regarding pregancy

Two questions regarding pregancy
1: There are plenty of ways, but I think the easiest is with MasterController and clicking on City Hall:
NRaas > Sim > Basic > Baby > [any option] > [X out the filter]
You don't need to change anything; just get to the point where MC offers you a list of pregnant sims. If only one is pregnant, you'll be asked what value you want for that sim; if no sims are pregnant, either the Baby category or its options won't show, or you'll be told that no sims match the criteria.
2: You need Retuner. The settings are here:
NRaas > Retuner > Settings > General > By Tunable XML > Sims3.Gameplay.ActorSystems > Pregnancy
You'll want to change not only kHoursOfPregnancy from 72 to 216 but also adjust the other progression steps, especially when contractions start since you presumably don't want sims to be in labor for six days. Tripling all of these, more or less, should work fine:
kHourToStartPregnantMotives (nausea and cravings)
kHourToShowPregnantBuff (sim spins into maternity outfit and has Pregnant moodlet)
kHoursToShowFullyPregnant
kHourToStartWalkingPregnant
kHourToStartContractions
Sims are assigned days off from work starting at the moment they get the Pregnant buff, so you may want to add days to that (kPregnantDaysOff) to keep pregnant sims from being forced back to work as well. You can also add or remove days off with MC.
You may already know this, but if you change these Retuner settings while a sim is already pregnant, the sim may not be able to give birth. To fix this, you could use CMar's Pregnancy Controller, which has a number of other useful options as well. It's compatible with NRaas mods; I asked a while back when I added it.
