Part-Time Jobs

Post by littlelambsy » November 12th, 2018, 7:16 pm

Hi JohnL83, I have finally got Riverview all built up the way I like it and have a total of 64 houses. I managed to build all this without bleeds anywhere. Now I'm just adding back most of the original Riverview residents (which I saved to the bin).  I might add some of my own created sim as well. If you're interested you can see them on my website here.

I have all the EP's and stuff packs except SN, I don't play with occults or supernatual stuff. I re-bought them all from Steam when they had a major sale and I think I got everything for about $50.00 CAD.  I switched from Steam from Origin because I didn't want patch 1.69

I've set up a few smaller towns which I'll keep for travel purposes and maybe to rotate gameplay. I have a problem rotating families in the same world, I get frustrated seeing my siim doing things I don't want them doing and roaming the town all hours of the night, especially the children LOL

Part-Time Jobs

Hi Littlelambsy, I will def check out the link. I like to see what others do to get ideas for myself and just to see how others play.  I don't play with any supernatural stuff either. When I bought Bridgeport the first thing I did was look up how to turn the cities vampires into humans.  I ended up just doing it in MC CAS because the other stuff seemed too complicated.  I didn't really want to delete them so I just turned them human, I shut off the vampire stuff and kept their personaltiy traits. Elvira was horrible and made enemies with my nice sim couple pretty quickly, but she ended up getting wiped out by a meteor strike (my first one ever!)  at the lot of Plumbob Pictures LOL...it killed off her and two other townies, one of which used to be a vamp who lived with her..don't remember his name though. My actor sim was already heading into the building to work so it missed him thankfully. I'd been playing for many months at that point and I was beginning to think I'd never see a meteor strike!

Anyway, thanks for the link. Happy simming! :-)

While this is not entirely relevant to the thread's subject, I feel obligated to point out for those following along that CAS is not a good way to remove or add occult states on existing sims. CAS is really concerned with how a sim looks, although things like traits, favorites, the LTW do show up there and can be changed safely.

MC's Occult:Remove (or Add) is really the better way to manage these things, and then a trip to CAS or Stylist if their appearance still needs adjustments. (MC Cheats add-on module required)

JohnL83... My website has a lot of interesting things. There are downloads, tutorials, stories and other stuff. Have fun looking through it :)
I just deleted all the vampires in Bridgeport.  I also got rid of all ghosts and prevented them from showing up ever.

Igazor... good point for those who want to make changes with supernaturals, thanks for the info.

Thanks Igazor, but it did work out okay for my vamp sims in that game. there's that option you can click to make them human and somehow it worked. I changed their skin tones to look more natural, varying skin darkness for variety.   Later, once I added more mods and learned more about them I did remove all occult stuff that may have been left over and I plan on managing future occult sims through the mods as well. Sorry that I didn't point that out, because I imagine someone may have read that and assumed it was a good way to take care of things. Though it did work out for me, I had a lot of tweaking to do.

I've had my apocalypse challenge sims in Sunset Valley2 getting part-time jobs at the spa as the town entered into fall. They'll start their first shift next time I load it up to play there.I'll be reinstating chess tables after new families start arriving in a few simyears.I often have young adults who arrive in town as immigrants taking part time jobs instead of full time as they have no skills or friends in town and they just arrived.

Part-Time Jobs

Hi, just a quick question,
Has anyone ever figured out how to have a sim have a full and part-time job at the same time? Full time during the day and part-time at night.

Closest solution I've found is Buzzler's Moar Interactions as that adds the ability to work overtime in 3 hour shifts at their regular workplace and/or work 3 hour shifts at rabbit holes that have part time jobs. It's a mod with lots of other things one might not want though so best to read carefully everything it addds before installing, and it's also only for your actives as they won't actually get hired and have to be told to go work each time.

To expand on that answer just a bit, the reason Buzzler's solution only works for sims while they are actively being played is that sims can only have (at most) one career that isn't an elementary or high school student enrollment at a time. Part time jobs, as well as self-employed professions and even the Retired designation, are all considered "careers" in this context.

Allowing for more than one career at a time would not be possible unless there is a Core Mod (that would likely break everything else we know and love about our other mods) way to do it.
