I've bee looking for a way to scale up (to lifespan?) the difficulty in building relationships and/or preventing insta-friends for celebrity sims.

So far I've only encountered mod & configs for work and skill related difficulty and nothing on the celebrity front.

Do the options under Story Progression > Celebrity help at all?

Maybe you could slow down the Accumulation?

Or speed up the Depreciation?

I've never tried this as I use the alternative system of awarding celebrity status according to career level. Maybe that could work for you instead? See below for details, if you're interested.

Unless I'm very much mistaken this confing options from SP you can control if and how fast a sim gets (or loses) celebrity points. However my issue with fame is that once a sim is a celebrity any other sim they come in contact with (no interaction needed) becomes their friend.

I also explored the options with Retuner but the only parts that mention relationship bonus seem to be related to how much celebrity points a sim gets by having a given relationship with someone famous.

I'm fiddling with it all but I haven't foud a solution yet.

Yes, you're right. The whole celebrity system is horrible and I really don't like the way it works by default, that's why I completely turned it off and used the career-based system instead. Sorry I wasn't much help. I hope you find a solution that works for you.

Well, we get what we get. In any case, thanks for the help, I think that a career-based system would be the better approach, at the very least it would contain the system to more specific scenarios without getting rid of it altogether.
