Update patch 1.67 not working with mod versions for v1.67?

Post by Tomogirl » April 9th, 2021, 9:57 pm

Hi guys!
I have just been back to Sims 3 after years. Since I didn't clearly remember most of things, I strictly followed the instructions to install the game and custom contents (pls check screencaptures below):
  • Only chose mods that guarantee compatibility with patch 1.67.
  • Made sure the launcher is at the same version. (The update patches were downloaded from Gamepressure site. Also avoiding patch 1.69 due to other users' reported errors)
  • Created Mods folder under My documents/EA/The Sims 3. Inserted resource.cfg, & Packages folder. (These were downloaded from Modthesims)
However, once the launcher is opened, nothing is visible in the Installed Contents tab. And then, an error popped up after starting the game: "It looks like you have installed an unofficial game modification that does not match your current version of the Sims 3. We recommend that you either uninstall these game modifications or get updated versions of them - otherwise you may experience crashes or significant bugs. Do you want to quit?" If I choose to continue, the screen will pass through the intro screen & the loading screen normally but after that, it is just blank at the Choose Town screen. I cannot see any letters on the Save/Quit/Options... dropbar also.

I tried to deleted all packages file and even the resource.cfg one but the game from now on has still showed the same error message and similar blank screen issue.
I don't know what was done wrong in this situation and what to do. Pls help. Thanks.

Update patch 1.67 not working with mod versions for v1.67?

Hi there. What is the source of your original game install, please? It can't be Origin since you are on Patch 1.67, so that leaves Steam or retail store discs. Or is it from some other source (which one)?

I have to admit that I have never heard of Gamepressure and you seem to have either a broken installation or a broken patch job. The way to get patched up to 1.67 on a legitimate retail disc install is by using EA's SuperPatcher, not by using things provided by third parties.
https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/the-sims ... er-patcher

The Core version mismatch warning you are getting on startup should only happen if you have a Core Mod not intended for your game's patch level. The only mods from this site that are Core Mods are ErrorTrap and UntranslatedKey, but you don't appear to have either unless that screenshot of your Mods\Packages folder that only shows 8 package files is not complete and there is more there than we are seeing. Core Mods are pretty rare for TS3, there are only 3 others in popular usage besides the 2 from here, and they each have a 1.67 variant available for them. But I don't think you actually have an official patch level there, especially if the Core mismatch warning is showing with no Core Mods present.

Thank you for replying. The game installation was provided by Games4theworld where I really trust after playing The Sims 4 successully. The game was on v1.62, then I applied 1.63 & then 1.67 patches one day later.

About patches: I have been starting to doubt the gamepressure patch. Every sources else are familiar and trustable to me. The only reason I got sth from gamepressure - a very new source to me - was because I thought patches cannot be downloadable from EA website... :(. On https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/the-sims ... r-patcher/ it doesn't do anything when I click on "Download the super-patcher for PC here."

So to fix this I should uninstall the game, right? What else do I need to do? Is my list of package files ok? For me those 8 mods are the most essential to my gameplay. I didn't acquire ErrorTrap since it's for 1.69 & higher. I don't intend to add more cc later on in case the game might run slow or conflicts.

Okay, whoa there. Thanks for the additional info, but Games4TheWorld provides pirated games for free download. Pirated games can often not be patched up or modded, or at least not in the same way as those from legitimate sources.

I'm sorry, but there is no support to be had here (and probably not much of anywhere outside of G4TW) for pirated games. The mods are not designed to rebel against them exactly, but they aren't designed to work with them either. I'm afraid this thread must be locked.

My recommendation is, if you wish to enjoy TS3 and have it patched up and modded properly and if this is feasible, then consider purchasing it from a legitimate source.
