Master Controller made my game crashes

Post by Eden » March 20th, 2021, 8:02 am

Hello,

Today, I tried to install the MasterController (I use to play with it in the past on my previous computer, and I really enjoyed it). First, I installed the "Mods" folder following this website : http://simswiki.info/wiki.php?title=Gam ... _and_Files and it was really easy and nice. I tested it, and the mods "no intro" and "no build sparkles" was working very well in my game.

Next, I downloaded the MasterController package here (MasterController) (the version 134), I extracted the package file and put it into the "Packages" folder of the "Mods" folder. And now, when I launch the game, the little loading bar is progressing 1 time, and the computer left the game immediatly :(

I deleted the MasterController package and launch the game again : everything was good and I was able to play. I put the MasterController package in "Packages" again, and the bug re-appeared.

I already tried to delete the "scriptCache.package" file, and after I tried to delete scriptCache.package + simCompositorCache.package (I saw that it was recommended in other topics). I don't know what other possibilities I could try.

I checked my game version in the "code_version" file and it seems to be 2.0.104. When I am on the Sims 3 launcher, it says that I already have all the updates.

Could you help me please :) ? I'm sorry if my sentences are not very nice, I'm french so I do some english mistakes ^^

Hello. I bet you checked in the wrong place, because it should be a Skuversion file. In any case, if this happens, you probably have an outdated version of the game. Tell us also what is the source of your game. If this is a disk installation, then you can probably update it using a universal patch.

Master Controller made my game crashes

Hello Sara and thank you for answering me. I checked the skuversion file, and it says :
[Base game folder]
GameVersion = 1.12.70.006002
Code:0.RL-2.0.104
Asset:1.Content.rl.12
Thumbnails:1.Thumbnail.dl.1216
TCC:1.TCC.dl.2131
CiderVersion#003740

[Ambitons folder which is the one I installed lastly]

GameVersion = 4.0.87.006001
Code:0.RL-2.0.104
Asset:1.ep2-0.rl.5
Thumbnails:1.Thumbnailep2.dl.127
TCC:1.TCC.ep02.137
CiderVersion#003828

This is what I see if I check my launcher (at the bottom left) :

So I suppose that the version of my game is 4.0.87.006001.

Yes this is a disk installation. I have the base game, Adventure, and Ambitions, and it was a disk installation for these 3. I still have the disks, the manuals, and the boxes.

No, your version of the game is 1.12. And it is really very old. I once had the same version for a long time, until I wanted to get new content and new modifications. I think you can find the necessary update here. The source also has a small instruction.

Important note: before you update, move all your important saves, sims, houses, and much more that you hold dear to another location. Then, when you finish updating, put everything back in its place.

Just to add to the above if I may, Patch 1.12 is the earliest possible patch level for which the Mods Framework structure in the Documents user folder will work at all, in any capacity which is why things seemed to be set up correctly at first. Prior to that, mods needed to be installed another way. But correct, there are no mods here nor in many other places other than the sample two that came with the Framework that will still work on that patch level.

The advice to use EA's SuperPatcher to bring the game up to Patch 1.67 is indeed the best one to offer. The SuperPatcher download routine will ask if you would rather have an Origin controlled game (hence 1.69), but there is no need to do that unless you want to. Both 1.67 and 1.69 are considered current patch levels.

Once upon a time I used MC for version 1.12, but that's a completely different story. However, the strange thing is how I made it work. Many instructions told me that all mods starting from version 1.12 must be in the documents, but, as usual, I missed something. And this was not the only mod, I also had other small fixes and modifications. I'd like to continue to install mods in this way, because I have the least space on the system disk. Most likely, now it is definitely impossible.

And I wouldn't recommend the game version 1.69. This version doesn't add anything new or useful. In addition, patch-down is a more tedious task than updating.

Waouh, thank you so much, it works ! I clicked on your link, updated my game to 1.67, re-installed the master controller, and everything is working perfectly. You made my day !

And I re-discovered things I forgot, like the loading screen with objects that we have to find in the picture :D I can figure now that there are a lot of details that change with the update to 1.69.

Thank you, have a nice week-end !
