deedee_828, I expected to see pictures :( Don't players who are addicted to generations make beautiful schemes with a portrait of each sim?

Gedcom files are just data. Users have to import pictures and assign them to the correct sims (or people if using for a real family tree).

Ah, so that's how it's done. I'm not into this sort of thing, but I like to look at other players' sims.

Yeah, I was hoping it would automatically add their family portraits, but no such luck. :(
I take tons of photos of my sims and my husband played around with family echo some time ago and finally figured out how to add a photo but it took forever and, at the time, the family for the game I was playing had way to many members to even consider adding them all.
I'm not only playing two generational games, but writing stories for both of them too, so I probably won't take the time to add photos.
But you are absolutely correct that some players spend hours making stunning backgrounds and posing their sims perfectly.
I don't have the patience or talent for that, but I too, like seeing other players amazing efforts. :)

Me too! Which is why I've bookmarked this sims 3 thread and added the link for you to check it out.
Children Born to Original Townies - Sims 3 (carls-sims-4-guide.com)

Some of the photos aren't available any longer, mostly those in the beginning pages, but there are many photos of truly gorgeous sims.
Simskittyx has been doing some genetics pairings and I just love her sims!

One of these days I'm going to grab some of them as she has offered all of them up for download. :)

deedee_828, looking at the photos, I suddenly realized that the players there really care about the sims that were spawned by original residents. For some reason, I carefully select CC only for my wards :D

Like I said, I don't play with generations, but I can let some sims grow up after a while. Also sometimes I just wonder what a particular sim might look like in the future. And sometimes, after a short test in CAS with MC, I hope that some little sims will never grow up :| It's probably hard to explain, but I believe that some characters are nice only in one age stage.
