I just found out that there are updated mods! Is there any place where people report bugs from them? I would love to try them in my legacy save if there are no serious issues.

There haven't been any new versions fully released since 2018. But if you mean the beta testing versions that all are welcome to try out, yes there has been quite a lot of activity there. No issues other than gratitude with any of the mods currently in beta testing have been reported (that I know of).

If you have anything to report, it would be best to use the Mods Testing forum board and, if possible, put the mod and version number in the subject line. Like "Issue with MasterController v135a" or "My Game Turns Purple and Crashes [MC v135a]" or something like that so we know which exact version of which mod is being reported on. As you can see, there haven't been any issues posted there for quite a while.

Maybe it sounds stupid but if I put an updated mod, will my previous settings be still there or will it be all reset?

Yes, they will, as the settings are saved within the game save and not the mod itself. This is assuming you don't load the saved game without the mod and then re-save it. Sorry, that's not a very good explanation but I hope you understand what I mean. :-)
