Hello, I'm new here. I literally just registered, but I have been using this website for many years. The mods are game changers, but I have a problem with Master Controller. Whenever I switch from one household to another if the previous household had a job then the household I switch to converts to the same job. Every sim has a different job, but they all end up with the same job when I switch which is weird.
It was really frustrating at first because I thought it was some other nraas mod like Careers or Story Progression, but I checked everything and they weren't the problem. So after that, I tried switching households the original way and I realized that everyone kept their jobs... I love switching through households with Master Controller because it's so much easier, but the job thing is bugging me. Please help me if you know if there is a way that I can still switch between households with Master Controller without every sim converting to the same job. Just to let everyone know that I switch households correctly this is the directions I take: Click on different sim -> Nraas -> Master Controller -> Make Active.

If you switch with MasterController, use "save as" to rename the save (so the original doesn't get overwritten), quit to desktop, delete the five cache files, and reload, do the sims in the new household still have the new jobs rather than their original ones? For reference, these are the cache files, which are in Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3:
- CASPartCache.package
- compositorCache.package
- scriptCache.package
- simCompositorCache.package
- socialCache.package

Yes, I did that plenty of times before it was even suggested. I have no idea. I may just have to switch through households the original way now.puzzlezaddict wrote: ↑February 10th, 2021, 10:45 pmIf you switch with MasterController, use "save as" to rename the save (so the original doesn't get overwritten), quit to desktop, delete the five cache files, and reload, do the sims in the new household still have the new jobs rather than their original ones? It's also worth trying the MC switch with only MasterController present, which again you can try on a new copy of your save so you don't have to worry about messing up your existing copy.

I have no idea then, sorry. This isn't typical behavior at all for the MC Make Active command. I'd still be curious to know if it happened in a new save as well, if you have time to test.

This is not normal behavior. Does the job switch happen as soon as you change households? If so, I'd try dragging your sims 3 documents folder to the desktop, starting the game so a new one generates, install your mod framework and mastercontroller then go into a new neighborhood and try switching. If it doesn't happen there, and it shouldn't, there's something in your old folder causing that behavior.

Yes, the job switching happens immediately after changing households with Master Controller. Thanks so much for the advice, but I have already tried those things. It's just weird and I was trying to download a new mods folder, but for some reason I can't find the link anywhere on the internet anymore. I searched up the same thing I did last time, which is "sims 3 mods folder". I think I'm just going to switch households the original way now because I realize that it's not that bad. It actually moves efficiently and I'm not stuck loading forever like I experienced on past computers. Sorry for wasting your time.Chain_Reaction post_id=80318 time=1613021168 user_id=2 wrote: This is not normal behavior. Does the job switch happen as soon as you change households? Instead of searching for an already populated Mods folder, you can download the Mods framework, unzip it, and add MasterController.

If the MC Make Active command works as expected with just MC present, you can add your other mods and test until you find a problem.
And if this issue happens in a new save with only MC installed, do you happen to have an older version of the game? Please list the patch level shown in the lower left corner of the launcher.
