Hello,
I installed a bad lot from The Exchange (I know I did because I inspected it with Custard after the fact and saw that stupid Arezzo counter). I uninstalled the lot from my TS3 launcher, removed all my DCBackup files BESIDES ccmerged, cleared out my DCCACHE AND removed the TS3 file from my Downloads folder in Documents/EA/TS3. However, when I go to install my store CC via the launcher, the window will open like it's installing and then it'll instantly close, without installing the CC, even though I removed any traces to the original bad CC lot. Help!

The file should have been removed when you uninstalled, but check the Library folder anyway for a file corresponding to the lot you installed. If you find one with the same timestamp as when you originally installed, delete it.
Otherwise, it might be time to start with a clean user folder. Move the entire Sims 3 folder out of Documents\Electronic Arts, open the launcher to spawn a new folder, download a fresh copy of one item, and see whether it installs. If it does, load a new save to make sure the item actually appears in-game. Then you can install the rest of your store content in small batches, test again, and go from there.
Your saves and other content can be transferred from your old Sims 3 folder to the new one, although a lot of the files don't need to be preserved. Aside from the Saves folder, you'll probably want to keep the contents of Library, SavedSims, and Mods, and maybe the userPresets.package file (saved recolors), but pretty much everything else is replaceable.
In the future, it's easy to install any new content into a clean user folder, then check in the launcher and in-game for extra custom content you don't want. If the content checks out, you can remove the clean folder you made, put your existing one back, and install the new item; if you see some bad cc, you can trash it and the entire new Sims 3 folder with no harm done to your existing one.

I sometimes get this instant close or it just takes forever and a day with my mods folder in place. If I drag it to the desktop then try to install something, putting it back after, I get better results. If it's not that, the launcher may have ate your dbc files so now it just crashes, in which case doing the clean folder mentioned above would resolve.

Moved TS3 folder out and slowly added Sims3Packs back into my launcher. It was the lot I suspected. Thank you!puzzlezaddict wrote: ↑January 27th, 2021, 10:30 pmThe file should have been removed when you uninstalled, but check the Library folder anyway for a file corresponding to the lot you installed.
