Is there a way to get snow days back in my game? I vaguely remember something about the SP mod doing away with them, or perhaps it was one of the others I have. But I miss them and I like my kids getting those surprise days off like we used to as kids.
In real life, oddly enough, we rarely get significant snow these days here in Missouri. The last "big" snow we had was about 8 inches (20-ish cm) and that was a couple years ago. It's strange because I vividly remember much more significant snows back in the 70's and 80's were that number was doubled and often stayed on the ground most of winter. And before the peanut gallery up north chimes in about 3 feet of snow and boo-hoo on your foot of snow, just spare me please. We all know 8 inches pales in comparison to a lake-ffect snow or the major snows that can occur in other states and countries further north.
But we can still make fun of the states that close everything for a half inch of snow.
Also, so as not to further interrupt Indignatgirl's book post I will answer here; I decided it was not worth the trouble to get the playpen and walker. Between messing around with log-ins, payments and being told they can get glitchy, I figure Sims 3 is glitchy enough and I'm lucky I can play at all and I too like my parents to teach the kids to walk, talk, etc. Really I was only excited about the toddlers interacting with other toddlers in them, but I can get them to hug sometimes now, so that will have to be enough.

Snow Days...
I think this is something from the section Tempest >> Weather >> Season >> Holiday >> Day. Next enter positive or negative value.
And now I think I'm too mean character. I'd love to uninstall real-life weather. I'm the kind of person who complains about the hot weather in summer and the cold in winter. Although I was once a child who was probably happy about all this

Snow Days...
Of course, we never had snow days here in Western Australia. (no snow). But I remember as a child, before schools had air conditioning, we got to stay home if the temperature was going to be over 102F (I think that is around 40C)

You'll have to uninstall the Career module for SP to get them back. It doesn't support them at this time.

Snow Days...
Tempest doesn't cover these; Snow Days are not official calendar holidays. Snowflake Day is, but that's very different. I don't think we're sure why the SP Career module blocks out the possibility of Snow Days, wasn't there a theory that Twallan was redoing the code for those and possibly never got around to finishing up that project?
And, by the way, the peanut gallery says pthbthb on 3 little feet of snow. it's 12.5 feet plus drifts, hurricane-force winds. and total whiteout conditions from August through June, uphill to and from school (both ways), with one winter coat to share among eight siblings, and nothing more to get around on than a pogo stick. Also on those fond times you were remembering, were you perhaps a bit shorter back then than you are now?

Snow Days...
He was in the process of doing performance changes to it. What a daunting task that is. I think the snow days thing is just an oversight. I've found a few cases where he never added new EA code to things he'd replaced. I imagine it was pretty stressful to just get them working as fast as possible and cleaning up behind the latest EA trainwreck when new expansions came out never mind checking what EA had added feature wise that worked.
Snow Days...
I think that is most people. I loved winter as a kid. Now I'm a bit more ambivalent, but I still enjoy a few days of snow. To me it's a lot more preferable to seeing everything dead and brown.Sara_Darkees wrote: ↑November 18th, 2020, 8:24 pmI'm the kind of person who complains about the hot weather in summer and the cold in winter. Yes, I believe there are, or were, places in the US this was true as well. One of the other reasons that the US get's summers off from school. It cost a fortune to cool the schools here in summer, where temps can be deadly without AC, even in northern states. And until just a couple of decades ago there were still hundreds of schools across the country that did not have AC. I believe that has changed for the majority.sheridanhoughton wrote: ↑November 19th, 2020, 12:05 amI'm the kind of person who complains about the hot weather in summer and the cold in winter. Thanks Igazor and Chain. I guess I can always just create my own snow days with a good ole MC Cheat. I just liked the idea of them being random, but I can live without them as such. Besides, I love my Career mod.
And Igazor, I used to walk 5 city blocks in freezing cold blizzards to get to school! It was just dreadful. LOL
Though I do remember once, when I was in 4th grade, that my sister and I were walking those 5 blocks in such weather, only to find the school closed and the principle waiting to turn us all back. (last minute closings in the days before cell phones and internet) Thankfully my sisters 1st grade teacher gave us a lift home, as it had only gotten worse so we were grateful. It was also one of the most fun and memorable snow-days I can remember. I had 2 older brothers (in 7th and 10th grades) and we all played board games, made popcorn and cookies while our parents were at work all day.
