Place buildings from other worlds in Sunset Valley?

Post by Derpina » November 7th, 2020, 7:57 am

I do not know if I place this on the right forum but I dont know where else to place it.

I have downloaded a few career mods, but in order to play them, I need a few buildings that are not there in Sunset Valley, where my main game is with the family i play.
I have downloaded the teen modeling mod, but I need a filmset, which is in bridgeport. I do have Late Night, so I tried to place it somewere in sunset valley but the game does not allow me to do so.
I can do this with houses and families, but not with service buildings.

Is there a way to make this possible?

The usual procedure for rabbithole lots is to load up an instance of Bridgeport and, from within Edit Town, save a copy of such a lot down to the bin where the other community lots are. Then quit the game entirely, reload, and the lot will still be there for placement in other worlds.

The lot type should be community and Visitors Allowed (or No Visitors Allowed). The stock lot is huge, though. You will need a 64x64 empty lot footprint on which to place it in Sunset Valley and you may need to bulldoze and move stuff around to make room for it. Alternatives include finding a smaller version of the movie set (backlot) to use instead or designing your own.

Thank you, I made the studio. I did the copy thing already, I did not know I had to reload the game to make it work, and which community type to pick. Too bad the teen modeling mod from modthesims does not work, i see more people found this problem. Thanks for the help anyway, I learned more about mods.

The reload was only suggesting a safe way to switch out of Bridgeport and back to Sunset Valley as retreating to the Main Menu and then loading a different world/save can cause issues where data from one world gets superimposed improperly upon another.

Anyway, our (sometimes) local expert here on custom careers would be Missy_Hissy. This one isn't one of hers, but maybe she already knows what is wrong with it or can offer a better working substitute. :)

I'm sorry, but what modification are you talking about? I remember a long time ago I found a mod to unlock active careers for teenagers. And I also found a cheater way to assign a career to sims using MC, but I'm not sure this will work in currently version. You can test it. Click on Sim >> MC >>Intermediate >> Career >> Choose Job. I may be wrong, but the main thing is that school hours and work hours do not conflict. As for the ugly uniform, you can probably edit it.

I was assuming the OP had the NRaas Careers mod already, as no custom careers will work without that. That and the correct rabbithole lot is all that should be required, although of course MasterController can be used as stated to assign a career by player-command. But this is all assuming that the custom career actually works as a few players posting on its board at MTS say that it isn't.

Would I be right in assuming your game is not in English?
The teen modelling mod doesn't support strings for languages other than English. I've written a tutorial here on doing this for yourself and I'll share it with others having the same issue. That's most likely why the career isn't showing up for you

My game is in English. Thanks for the tutorial, I'll look into it as soon as I fixed this wretched saving error im getting since yesterday. I think my computer is done with all the downloading and installing content for this game, the ram can't handle it. Trying to follow tutorials when your computer is not in English is quite a pain though :D
