Mirror Mirror on the Wall

Post by Bowlady1955 » October 14th, 2020, 1:22 am

I have had to take all the mirrors out of my Sims House. My 2 primary characters never want to do anything but go from room to room and primp in front of the mirror from the time they get up in the morning until they go back to bed at night. I have never had this happen before and not sure what I can do about it. I have had the same traits on other Sims and they never spent all day everyday in front of the mirrors.
Any suggestions? Has this ever happened to anyone before?

Thanks for any help or insight.

Cheers,

Are they having a mid-life crisis? My sims all do this when they get the mid-life crisis moodlet when aging up to adult.

It seems like, besides the mid-life crisis sims, I see this a LOT with my snobs. They are constantly in front of the mirror. I also see it a lot in a sim that is both Neat and a Perfectionist. Otherwise, I don't see this behavior much, if at all.

Hi Bowlady :) Sims getting stuck repeating certain actions seems to be a theme with me as well. I can have a mansion full of things to do and I will have some that do the same thing every single time, regardless of traits. For days some objects become more interesting to them; Like a Virtuoso who suddenly loves chess or getting in the hot-tub, rather than their usual "grab the nearest instrument" thing. I currently have a teen who has no sporty-type traits, yet he works out at the stereo twice a day if he's off school. He has a higher athletic score than his sister, who has the athletic trait! :P

You do rotate play don't you? (sorry I can't remember for sure) I have two games where I do not rotate-play. So far I have never had that issue with those two games. Not with any of my actives nor am seeing townspeople over-obsess.
Yet, in all of the other 4 games where I rotate play frequently, I have this problem. I deduced that rotational play seems to give some sims OCD. :-o Or it could just be a coincidence...?

It would happen a lot to any sim with that art-critic or whatever trait. I now ban that trait in all games! I'd get so annoyed at them when they'd obsess and critique everything on every lot (even their own!) over and over and over! And nine times out of ten were unimpressed.

Hi, my husband and wife in my current game have Flirty, Great Kisser, Hopeless Romantic, Irresistible, Virtuoso and with an Honorary Degree I gave them Daredevil trait (because I have spiral staircases and wanted them to slide down them...lol). But they are totally ignoring everything else in the game. If I knew how to do a video, I would tape them in fast mode, just so everyone could see watch them run back and forth between mirrors.

I was wondering if it has something to do with the house they are in. It was a town home 1 BR and 1 BathR with a big yard so I added a basement and a couple of floors and expanded the house almost the full size of the lot. Normally I use one of my CC homes I have built over the last 2 years.. I've never had this issue with any of my CC homes or families with them being OCD with mirrors before.

Cheers,

You put Irresistible sims in a house full of mirrors and expected them to do something other than admire their own reflections all day long? :P

First, I would suggest MC resetting at least the sims, perhaps the residential lot, to see if that unsticks their autonomy from obsessing on those actions. Then if that didn't help I would consider using Retuner's object menu on mirrors to disallow autonomous primp or whatever it is that they are actually doing, at least for a while until they get the idea that there might be other things in the house worthy of their so valuable attention.

Thanks Igazor, I have always used the irresistible trait but this is the first time they have ever obsessed over it. I will check my Returner's settings on mirrors and adjust as needed. Thanks again.

PS Have a GREAT WEEKEND everyone!!!!

Bowlady, this reminds me of when I had a house full of Diva's (they were all unrelated actors and singers sharing an apartment in Bridgeport) who just went around smacking the crap out of each other for like a whole sim-week! I finally did an MC reset of them and they got back to doing more than just making each other angry to the point of smacking. So I hope Igazor's advise works for you, because resetting them via MC worked for my divas.
