Dirty House

Post by Sonshine » September 29th, 2020, 9:39 pm

A few months ago, the discussion came up about dirty houses and Igazor mentioned about his "slovenly ways" (his words). I highly doubt though, that his "slovenly ways" could ever match this! This was a part of one of my towns which became corrupted. Everywhere there was a free space in that house, you'd see piles of dirty laundry!!

That slovenly ways thread was four years ago. After a bit more time passes, the Statute of Limitations will take hold. :)

Anyway, I don't see a mess in your pic (am I missing something?), I see piles of laundry. Sometimes the reason this happens is that the sims who live there have an obligation to do laundry, meaning the facilities and the hampers are available to them, but they can't even if they wanted to because when they are not the actively played household they go into states of semi-hibernation until called upon by the game to do something. But they do have enough time to spin into and out of clothes (career, outerwear for going out, everyday for coming inside) before/just after the hibernation thing and that causes the laundry piles to build up over time.

Sonshine that is some mess of stinky laundry! lol

That's a great explanation for inactives Igazor, but why do the sims in my active household twirl out of clothes constantly, everywhere but where I have hampers placed!?!

It seems like any time I'm trying to take a screen shot of a romantic or dramatic moment, I do so only to find a yellow pile of dirty clothes on the floor, or several of them, ruining the photo! (Though I must say not huge wet piles of moldy, stinky laundry! Nothing nearly as slovenly!)

But the sims in question aren't even slobs or inappropriate, so I'm at a loss to explain it.

Is it just a game mechanic that wherever they change clothes in the house, if the room doesn't have a hamper, the clothes will just end up willy nilly all over the floor?

Is there a setting to stop this in lieu of having to place a hamper in every single room of the house?

If so, please share the secret with me to stop my endless photo retakes and me having to be the maid with no pay!!!! lol

deedee_828, you could try Nona Mena's Super Hamper. It will automatically collect all dirty laundry from anywhere on the lot.

I had to put these Super-Hampers (one of the bottomless kind per house) onto every single residential lot that has a washing machine in the university world (which is nearly all of them), because the inactives couldn't move anymore because of those laundry piles. You couldn't even enter the house when they had a party.

The only time I had such a mess in an inactive sim's house was when they had a washing machine, but couldn't get to it. I usually don't have any laundry stuff so that I don't get the never ending piles of dirty laundry. Although when I had a family living in a converted junk yard, the spawner kept on spawning broken washing machines. I only realised when piles of dirty laundry started appearing.

Now that sounds like a good idea!
Would that mod work okay with all NRaas mods?
Oh, I think I have a gardening service mod and a poster one too....not sure who made those two mods right at the moment, but I'd hate to have a conflict between any of them.

That mod definitely works well with all of the NRaas mods. I haven't tried it with the gardening service, but it plays well with all the other mods I use, which are quite a few.
