What settings do I need for successful cyberwoohoo?!

I have a fellow I set at KamaSimtra level 8. He has nothing but terrible experiences cyberwoohooing. (they are so bad that I am compelled to tinker with his moodlets to keep him from expiring).

I looked at the Cyberwoohoo settings in Woohooer and they all looked dismal, if I understand what I'm looking at, though I'm pretty sure I don't really. So anyway I changed them, raising the base chance scoring to 40 (does that just make it more likely for someone to be online?), the chance of climax to 60, and leaving the chance of misunderstanding at 10. In Kama Simtra, the base satisfaction is 30, and the satisfaction per level is 5, because I thought that was additive with the other things, so 5X 8=40 and 40+30=70, right? Why am I getting such terrible terrible results?

(oh I just realized I should change the climax check time to just under the amount of time allowed per cyberwoohoo too. Is that all?)

I'm just going to pre-emptively change time between climax checks to 40 and chance of misunderstanding to 0 and see if that works, and meanwhile if there's anything else I should do, let me know? I'm trying to have this old guy do this for a living, because on the internet nobody knows you look like the cross between a turtle and a toad, i.e., kinda cute in an ugly way but not what most people would pick up in a fern bar (do they still have fern bars? Who would know, we've been sheltering in place for roughly 49,000 years).

Well, no.

I made those changes and also got them the second-best computer, and if anything the result was worse. To check if it was just this sim, I tried his son on the same activity & got results that were almost as bad. I poked around in Story Progression and didn't see anything I thought I should change, so I'm still at a loss.

At least daddy still gets a little every single time he searches the galaxy. Fella should be an astronomer, not a retired whatever he is.

Increased chances of success at any kind of woohoo don't rely on the KamaSimtra level alone, they rely on Renown. The skill level is only one ingredient. The minor challenges add a lot to that formula and the major challenge that comes with 50 woohoos (or something like that) breaks open the floodgates, so to speak. What kind of Renown scores do these sims have?

Do these sims have any traits that would be negative to cyber, such as Technophobe?

In my area, ferns are exempt from social distancing and do not have to wear masks in public. I really don't know where they hang out, or even how they mate or reproduce. Oddly enough, I just never paid attention even when I was "allowed" out of the house myself, whenever that was.

He's not a technophobe! he's a blogger! I think I gave him some skill things, good, and...family-oriented. Maybe that's it? He's having second thoughts every time because he's not built to be promiscouous? (but he is quite single).

I don't know about the other partners in the cyberwoohoo -but wouldn't they not be available if they had unsuitable traits (I did not disable the function of factoring in traits and moods for scoring)?

More questions: do those bad moodlets detract from his income, notch progress, or reknown? Or are they just flavor things?

It's a new game, so in spite of me tweaking the Reknown to provide more from an encounter, and to provide better scoring & income enhancement, they haven't had many encounters. I wonder if I can tweak that backstory.

Well, my next two tasks are to change that family-oriented trait & see if I can give him reknown & notches for his bacstory and see if those change anything.

If the moodlets are without grander consequence maybe I'll resign myself to cleaning them up.

Oh, and! I know how ferns reproduce and--it's a bit complicated, because they alternate between asexual and sexual generations, and anyway, they produce their spores right next to where they breathe, so9 if they're not masking during a pandemic of an aerosolizing disease, they're turning that disease into an STD...

The negatve moodlets one gets from woohooing, like the notches, are a product of a woohoo. They don't affect payment or notch scoring unless the woohoo was not a successful one (no climax) in the first place.

I had a feeling this was a new game. You can't cheat notches or Renown scores, or at least I've never seen how one can (maybe I'm not understanding this part correctly). They only come with experience. The increased KS skill level will help a bit, but what that really does is increase the sim's chance of pleasing their partner. Not themselves.

Oh well, I guess a problem with the design of all the sims games is the developers think a game is about achievement, so you have to acquire all the characteristics of your sim in gameplay. As opposed to how I want to play, in which I can create stories with characters who have a history and characteristics at the beginning...I guess that's what premades are for, but I want to make my own, gosh durn it.

in a while I'll learn if taking away Family-oriented lets the old guy enjoy himself more, anyway. I guess if it's a job, it doesn't completely matter if he does-but I didn't plan for him to hate it.

Nothing nothing nothing makes those moodlets not happen. BUT there's also a "having a blast" and happy "cybered" moodlet so if I remove the undesirable moodlets they do fine. Also, I know the other party had a good time from the phone calls afterwards.

Am I the only one this happens to?

It's possible that we are approaching this the wrong way. For in-person woohoo, your sim gets positive experience moodlets based on the Renown of the other sim, not based on their own. Perhaps this is the concept that applies here. In a new game, the other sim customers aren't going to have had many (or any) experiences yet.
