Custom world is too dark

Post by Althestal » August 24th, 2020, 12:20 pm

Hiya! I’ve scoured the Internet and I haven’t really been able to find much info on the problems I’m having so I decided to post this question here, to some experienced and helpful simmers!
So a little while back I downloaded a custom world, Alpine Meadows, and it has a lovely blue tinge to the whole world everyday. It’s very beautiful and I’m creating my own buildings for it etc. But then I noticed once’s it’s nighttime it is proper PITCH BLACK! Like you literally can’t see a thing apart from black! The water is still visible in the general map but once I’m zoomed in on my sim I can’t see anything they’re doing. Is there any possible way to change lighting settings of a world? I’m willing to download CAW to change it, just how?
hope someone knows how to fix this! I love the world and I’m excited to work on it more! If you need screenshots I can supply them anytime!

A lighting mod would solve this and it just goes into your mods folder like any other mod.
Some of people's favourites is Burnt Waffles mods found here: https://brntwaffles.tumblr.com/post/597 ... l-override
Just be aware that the mod will override the lighting in all your worlds but maybe that might be an improvement ;-)

Sorry for some impertinence, but I want to see screenshots anyway! Seriously, I really wonder what kind of world this is where it's proper pitch dark. So please... However still check your game settings, especially visibility, viewing range, or something like that. Once I was puzzled by a strange loading of the world and a blue fog. It turned out that this is just one of the parameters returned to the minimum value.

Thanks for the replies! I'll definitely check out those lighting mods!
And also I'm trying to upload/attach an image but it doesn't seem to be working...if you know how please send me a quick guide haha. Also I have never had a problem with lighting in any other world but this one so I don't think it is any in game settings :(

Hi there. To provide us with screenshots, it would be better if the images are hosted elsewhere on the web by a third party and then linked to within a message. That can be so they display in-line using the message editing tools, or just a link to a third party site that will display them for us.

Alright, I'll try link these two photos through my imgur, hope you can see them!

The first pic is the world during the day time, i zoomed in on a park i was working on.

The second pic is the same place just at night. It seems that whenever another light source is present the surroundings become pitch black.

Ohh, it's more like a graphics glitch, and it's worse than the darkness I imagined. I saw on the source that the author fixed some problems in their worlds. Just in case, make sure that everything is in order.

Alright, what do you think I should change in game? The world is downloaded fine etc. and my settings in game let my game run smoothly. Should I download that lighting mod you linked? I'm a little clueless on what to change haha. I can send a pic of my settings if you think there is something to change?

It's because there are no street lights on the sidewalks lining the streets on the world map.

Are you sure? Because even when I have lights inside my lot a lot of objects just become black. I'd set up streetlights via CAW but i can't seem to get the world to load up :(
