Townies-run Daycare not working anymore

Post by MissPatTS3 » August 18th, 2020, 2:47 pm

Today's Report:

I uninstalled AwesomeMod (ugh so many "headless" and "feetless" sims to fix using "debug enabler > fix invisble sims' after I did that!)

My original test daycare household has 4 toddlers. I made them active until the townie parents dropped off 3 toddlers in the morning (9am) and switched to a different household. Within 3 sim hours after switching away, 2 townie toddlers got auto reset at home but one *finally* stayed on the lot! The last townie toddler actually never auto reset... he was on the townie daycare lot until 11:39pm. I wanted him to stop "milking" my townie daycare household, so I MC-reset the little freeloader.

Then I switched to C-Dark's family (what a lovely lot! Amazing architecture & very unique curb appeal!). I didn't change anything, it was just to make sure the lot and the sims were fine.

I switched off to a different household, and made sure 2 sims in C-Dark's lot were given the "daycare" career per C-Dark's recommendation above.
  • when I zoomed in on C-Dark's daycare lot from my active househld, the townie parents had dropped off 1x toddler autonomously on the daycare lot
  • since my active household had a toddler, I also dropped him off on that lot, and he was instantly considered a daycare toddler. Sweet.
That's for the lovely part.

Things turned out real wrong, real quick as it so delightfully happens in TS3:
  • The game generated townie children for the daycare lot. 1 of the 3 daycare children kept pranking 2/3 PCs on the main floor and 3/3 bathroom sinks (2 downstairs - 1 upstairs)
  • The daycare household bot that I expected to teach my active toddlers to potty/walk/talk just spent their day cleaning up after the tiny hooligan's mess
  • Everything in the main floor kitchen (sink) and both bathrooms (mainfloor and first floor - sinks, toilet) somehow broke down and were flooded.
  • Poor Daycare simbot skilled up a wooping 3 level in handiness in a matter of 10 hours.
  • The child also wore a cardboard box on his head towards the final official hours of the daycare, probaby because he was so proud of how productive he had been all day and it was time to finally chillax? Ugh.
  • Also, for a reason that completely is out of my grasp, SP pushed the aforementioned enfant terrible and his 2x NPC siblings to move in C-dark lot. I mean, what a lovely bunch, but NO THANK YOU. I had to move them (along their parents who were Register townies) to their own lot in town, to teach them boundaries.
  • The parent of the only toddler that was dropped off at 9am, came to pick him up at 6pm but stayed through 11pm, trying to talk to all other adults on the household who were casually rushing to fix all plumbing and breakage issues around the kitchen and bathrooms. They left their toddler behind. Much like my original test daycare household, that toddler never auto reset to his house lot.
  • I switched to C-Dark's household to make it active, hoping the little neighbour would auto reset when I made the daycare lot, my active lot. He didn't bother. I had to manually MC-reset him to finally see him back to his house lot.
  • The aforementioned pranking child & his siblings seemed to have left the lot on their own, shortly after I had created a lot in town for their family. Not sure if they auto reset or anything, they just were gone when I started wondering where they were, and stopped paying attention to the flooded mess and the adults in the middle of it.
  • Oh, my active toddler auto-reset to the active household lot, by 5-ish pm. Which was great.
Good breakthrough today: UPGRADE ALL KITCHEN & BATHROOM & ELECTRONICS BREAKABLE STUFF before letting little Hulks ruin your good daycare reputation.

Also: SP fired up a notification that the grandpa gave away his stuff to his granddaughter. He's about to die. I don't blame him, after such a messy day. Probably wasn't expecting this when he told his daughter "sure honey, having kids in this house will bring more life to my calm lifestyle. It's way too calm here!" Yeah right.

To do next:
  • find cheaty way to "instantly" upgrade all daycare lot breakable stuff (sinks, bathroom stuff, PCs, etc.)
  • try to have the same gameplay as above, but with AwesomeMod re-installed, to have final confirmation that AwesomeMod is creating the autonomous daycare issues I mentioned in my OP.
Today's testing session was actually quite eye-opening vis-à-vis what a daycare requires to function properly! Will report back how my next testing session went.

Lol, this is really uhm "funny".
I did never seen any little "hulks" ruin anything, nor broke so many objects (I still play the same daycare and the grandpa just died today too.
Sorry, I just exported them as they were that day.

I remember I set in SP that nothing breaks completly and every Sunday when I reset town, delete all inactives family inventory
I do a MC clean up and repair all.

What about the traits of your toddlers?
Well mine all have friendly ones 🐱

I have just seen plumbot Roberta teaching a toddler walking, yeah, but because there are 5 toddlers, no NPC ones, she cannot do it for all, yeah they are both busy.
Maybe when playing daycare active then npc toddlers are spawned, so that there is a special amount, if there are not enough residential ones?
For my inactive daycare I haven't seen this happen. And children never go there, at least I have never seen it.

The house was basically an EA one I changed a bit.

Yeah I never saw this happen in any of my test saves before today, I was laughing behind my screen and my fiancé thought I was watching a comedy show or something, lol. Nope, just TS3 madness!

That's a good insight to check the daycare toddlers & child traits! I'm sensing a "daredevil", "rebel" type townie child.
Now that I think about it - I do not have children in my test town - only 13x toddlers and 1x teen (from your family) so I think you're right, the game is just spawning random *renegade* children to fill the needs of the Daycare career level 5 opportunities.

No problem for the grandpa! I actually use the "time shift" cheat object to force the time to move forward, so he probably still had 7-14 days of life expectancy before landing in my game. I'm the one who is sorry for how his last days are going. Hopefully day #2 of my test gameplay, he'll be able to heal his headache! His daughter can sue the chilld's family now that I moved them in town. Where is the "sue for bad migraine" interaction on the City Hall rabbithole when you need it? :D

About Roberta: could I clone her 6 times, give all of them the Daycare career, and technically have all the simbots take care of teaching toddlers? I did follow closely 1 Nraas member's post who said they had managed to get a busy townie daycare with 6 simbots teaching 19 toddlers how to potty/walk/talk. I want that so bad in my game :-o

"I set in SP that nothing breaks completly and every Sunday when I reset town, delete all inactives family inventory I do a MC clean up and repair all."
That's going to be helpful! I'm going to look up the MC menu and see if I can narrow down that "clean up & repair" action to that specific lot.

The house looks really good - not sure I have seen it yet in the worlds I've played.

Hm, I'm really not sure what you mean with cloning.
Do you really want identical ones?
If yes, I don't know f.i. try to
- save her to saved sims folder in MC plumbot CAS - not library in edit town,
then place 5 normal new sims in the house,
make them occult plumbot via MC,
bring them in Plumbot Cas and see
if Roberta is listed, then
change her look.
And via MC give them quality 10, 7 chip slots and the trait chips.

If you save Roberta in edit town as a single sim to library I think they would have the same ID, means doppelganger?what might cause problems I suppose.

In the evening I can provide you my Lal plumbot if you want,

here is how to create a a human plumbot

These are really good suggestions - I was going to go the doppelganger route actually.
Would love the Lal plumbot! I will then try and create 4 human plumbots and see what goes on.

Thank you so much for your precious help with this, much appreciated!

BTW, I had frozen the needs of all the daycare children & toddlers - probably why the child could be so busy breaking up stuff on the lot (high energy). I do want the children to do their homework with the plumbot so I'll keep their needs frozen on day #2. Now, if it's Prankland again, I'll turn off the needs freezing for the child-aged sims.

Ok, in this dropbox folder you can find the .sim files of both - these go into your SavedSims folder.
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/jot553zkivr2 ... NplCa?dl=0

When you give a human sim plumbot occult or even you have a real plumbot,
these two usercreated will show up in your plumbot CAS you can select then.

I also know now why Lal is walking a litle stiff, I didn't gave her the Sentience chip:
https://www.carls-sims-3-guide.com/into ... tchips.php

I gave my daycare these 7 trait chips:
Competent Cleaner
HandiBot
Steel Chef
RoboNanny
Friendly Functions
Sense of Humor
Simulated Emotions

Hm, I always keep my population balanced, so there are always new babies, children, teens, and students YA. Because I fill all regular careers with my residential sims - I don't want NPs randomly fill them for co-workers.
So I keep track of like when I need new babies who will have the jobs of the sims later when they retire and so on. And of course for having partners for each.
Means 13 toddlers is really a lot - I would have 14, but normall have 6, 8 or max. 10.
My total resident population is around 100 and has every age stage present.

Thanks for the .sim files!
Noted down all the 7 trait chips to give to human plumbots.

Yeah my test save is located in "Bigger Builder Island" in order to troubleshoot my autonomous daycare attempts, so it's intentionally not designed as a regular save where I'm more a data + control freak - hence the population imbalance.

There's like max 30 townies total (not counting NPCs) there and 1/3 of the population is a toddler for autonomous daycare testing purposes. But SP seems to have a sneaky "up-to-no-good child-aged sim spawning" way of reminding me to get more balance of that population...

Anyway, will report back! Fingers crossed there'll be good news.
