Townies-run Daycare not working anymore

Post by MissPatTS3 » August 14th, 2020, 8:19 pm

Hello all! I have a save where I'm trying to setup an autonomous daycare. It was working few months ago: I could play the active family with the daycare for a few hours, then switch off to a different household, and all the parents in town would drop off their toddlers to that house autonomously.

I have since installed other mods, the bigger one being AwesomeMod, and that seems to have broken the townie daycare functionality. Like, if I switch to the active daycare, townies drop off their toddlers & kids just fine. But the minute I switch off to a different household, all the toddlers that were on the daycare household lot, are automatically reset to their house lots and no matter if I stay zoomed in on the daycare lot, townie parents never drop off their toddlers autonomously ever again (I did check and my GoHere settings are the exact same ones I had when the autonomous daycare was working).

Is this a known behavior? Any insight would be appreciated!

Townies-run Daycare not working anymore

I think the daycare was suspended and needs to attend penalty class?
Unfortunately this information you only get when making the sim active and this can happen after a while, so no kids will go to the daycare anymore.
Check her career status.

Therefor I did a tuning to make Daycare much easier and to hopefully avoid penalty, because I only play with an inactive daycare.
Here is my tuning of the Daycare xml and AttendDaycarePenaltyClass_CityHall... I set "AllowAutonomousReinforcement" to true (in case this happens again, but I'm not sure if the inactive will attend autonomous, it didn't happen again until now for me),
NOTE: if you already have a tuning of this files then you need to change that one, compare my settings with yours,

In addition I changed that they can work from Monday to Sunday, in the ActiveCareers XML, also here if you already have a tuning with it, change it there.

Both files you find here: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/bv4te1ppypse ... FXTba?dl=0

Daycare career can be assigned easily via Mastercontroller to a sim.
If you don't wanna tune it, simply quit the job and assign it again with level 5, this should fix it.

This is amazing! Thank you for the files, I'm going to test them when I'm back home and report back how it went!

If your daycare is already suspended than you need to quit the job and reassign it with level 5. To make the tuning be applied right 😊

Townies-run Daycare not working anymore

Reporting back! So basically:

1) Using WinMerge, I compared the content of your "ActiveCareers" XML file and the same file inside of AwesomeMod package. I made necessary modifications to make both files match in terms of Daycare career data (working days and wakeup hours). I also installed your other daycare file (about the penalty class). Unfortunately, when I played and switched to the Daycare househld, there was no visible change. My Daycare sim's work week was still only Monday-Thursday.

Also, this mod description says that "when we have the expansion package Seasons, Thursday is a holiday, with which we lose 1 day of work". Do you have Seasons installed and still managed to get your townie Daycare sim working all 7 days of the week? If yes, I'm jealous! Wish I had that going in my game.

2) My daycare wasn't suspended after all (I clicked on the City Hall rabbithole to make sure). The strange thing is, I had to systematically resign and re-assign the career every time I'd switch to the Daycare household, or else the townies would continue *not* to drop off their toddlers to my lot the next morning. Ugh.

3) Despite the changes to the XML file mentioned above, the toddlers dropped off at the daycare would *still* instantly reset at their house lot when I'd stop playing the daycare household, and switch to a different family. Le sigh.

I'm just going to give up on the whole townie daycare idea, it's been several months that I'm testing it and it's just not working for me... I remain really impressed with people who get it working but alas, I think it's just time to admit that I hit a serious roadblock and need to find a creative workaround.

Anyway thank you so much for your help C-Dark! It was fun troubleshooting this gameplay further. Appreciated.

Yes I have seasons installed, and it can happen that the daycare leaves the lot, I send them home sometimes inbetween.
I still don't know if it is possible to disallow holidays for them entirely.
I'm not sure if the information for the "new" working days is updating at all, will check in the evening today, it may take a while.

About 2),
because I have two daycares only one looses it when a make the household active, normally only one is allowed when you have it active.
About 3)

I really wonder, why this is not working for you. So sorry that nothing helped. This issue must has a different reason, in my game it works well (two daycare in the same house), can it be that your daycare lot has an issue? The babys and toddlers appear always outside the house near front door, there must be enough place or your house has a porch, oh

and I have a manual caste for them, I apply on sim directly, given them lifetime rewards like super nanny.

I uploaded my Dacarehouse with family to my dropbox folder (link is the same than I already posted above).

If you like, you can test this.
The second daycare is a "human" looking Plumbot called Roberta, if you wanna keep her, than you might need to assign her the 7 chips again, quality 10. Check without making them active (MC - Sim- status-career), if they still have the daycare career level 5.

I'm curious if you encounter a difference, hopefully it works like in my game.

I always make one female daughter to become the next daycare, parents and grandparents live there, there are 3 double beds and in addition 2 bunked beds.
I have also placed the napping mat mod (don't know the name now), if you don't have it, it may be replaced by something else.

Wow, that'll be eye-opening to use your lot and your fam. Love the idea of having a human looking Plumbot for the Daycare! That was my plan too, as not all families would be friendly with the whole "Into The Future" technology right away when dropping off their kids at the daycare lot. A human looking bot makes it look more like a traditional daycare.

I do have Arsil's napping mat mod, installed, so no problem on that end. I also usually give daycare pros, traits / chips and LTRs that should make running the daycare easier. Regarding my lot, when I'm playing the daycare family as my active family, townie parents do drop off their kids just fine - it seems there is no spacing issue there.

Question: have you noticed your daycare professionals autonomously teaching toddlers to potty / talk / walk? It never happened in my previous attempts at making a townie daycare so last week I had created a caste to freeze the needs of daycare pros + toddlers because I felt the whole scripted whining / crying was getting in the way of daycare pros teaching these hidden skills to toddlers.

Now I'm thinking - maybe that's why the toddlers auto-reset to their house lot when I switch away from the daycare family, like "hey these daycare toddlers have no need to fill, so let's just send them back home altogether!" It still wouldn't explain why I have to resign-join career all the time, but maybe it's linked somehow. Will test removing the needs freeze + using your lot & fam and report back.

Only the plumbot does it, unfortunately, not the sim. But I don't look all the time into it. I use Homeopener too.

You freezed the needs? I never did that, yeah, I hope, this caused the reset issue.

Have you tried without Awesome to see if it is the culprit? Perhaps the NoBabyDisintegration setting is causing it.
