Three Questions Homeworld Universities

Post by Rhiannon Is Chillin » July 7th, 2020, 11:43 pm

I am putting together a homeworld college campus and so far most everything works: enrolling your active sims, enrolling inactive sims, leveling 7 of them up to level 2 student for each of the 7 majors to be professors, installing university rabbithole rugs, creating a student union with class room for the active class lectures and student service booth for the Meet & Greet, installing a nerd shop, university hangout and library for specific majors' class activities, and graduation.

I have three questions though:

1) Student Union Meet & Greet: When I put it in the campus lot and assigned the whole lot as a student union and added the lot event marker, the active lecture classes did show up, but the professors didn't. Also the meet & greet was kind of wonky. So now I converted the home across the street from the campus as a separate student union lot. I also put the lot event marker like I saw in the original Student Union from the Sims University world.

The Meet & Greet works for the most part - I can get all the freebies from the student services booth, read the welcome and curriculum messages and even talk to a professor (although it wasn't the professor assigned to my sim's major - the other professors may have been there, but I only tried it once)

My question is: In the original student union in the sims university world, the student services booth automatically appears during the day of the Meet & Greet (first day of semester) and then no longer appears for the rest of semester. How do I make that happen in my homeworld? Does it have to do with that lot event marker? I heard about "second layouts" in build mode but I don't know what that is? I have read about the seasonal marker but I haven't found anything about using the lot event marker. When I shift+ctrl+click or shift+click, none of the options give any hint of how to use it unlike the seasonal marker.

2) Graduation Invitations: My sim finished his major and was graduating on the last Saturday of the semester. The notification to invite friends and family popped up. I tried to click on it, but no menu popped up for me to officially invite anyone. I'm assuming it's because they're all already in this world, but since there was no official way, they weren't automatically pushed to come to the graduation. Is there a way to fix this?

3) Cap and Gown: So my sim went to his graduation anyway but the problem was, he didn't change into cap and gown for the ceremony. I did have careers filtered out in MasterController and wondering if this might be the cause for him not switching to it? Is there a way to fix this as well? Would I have to put the cap & gown outfit together manually?

Everything else works though and I really love it so much! He even got to choose the sixth trait for graduating. I could have gotten a seventh from one of the social cliques but I didn't care about trying to level that up. I just need to see if I can get the last three things I talked about fixed somehow. Please help if you can, thanks!

Three Questions Homeworld Universities

I have made a homeworld university, but it was a while ago, so I don't remember all the details:

I don't remember exactly how it is done, but you do indeed use the lot event marker for this. I think the second layout is the one for every day except the Meet & Greet?

My sims didn't even go to their graduation, so you're ahead of me there, and I can't help with that. I hope someone else can help you out on those issues.

Hi,
about professors, you only need 6, because there are no lectures for nraas education at the moment, as far as I know.
You can use the autoassign as professor via SP, it only works for residents.
The professor state only last one term length, 7 days, then they loose this job on Sunday. With the autoassignment they get assigned every Monday always at 6 am and every other day until Saturday. Only sims who have a degree and only for uni careers where students are.

I have 6 professors who never change, arranged a professors lot, here: post70880#p70880

Graduations, I suggest, only take place when your sim has reached a degree, means 8 points, which is very very hard to reach, if they don't they end up degreeless, even they did all classes, you can check via Mastercontroller Sim - go to - filter Type of sim -- Degree or No degree (or Degreeless, don't know the name in english game).
Maybe this why some sims may not wear Cap and Gown?
At least you can set Degree via
MC - Sim - career - academic degree (here you also see how many points your sim has), set it on Friday Evening to 8 points and I'm sure your sim will have a graduation on Saturday ;-)

lot event marker
  • Common layout are the normal days
  • layout two is for lectures (happening only on specific days and hours). If everything is set up under common, you don't need to change anything here.
  • orientation layout is for the orientation day, in this you place the student service booth, the unlocked one from MTS and other objects you want like the barista bar https://modthesims.info/d/510222/studen ... ocked.html

If you don't want all residents to visit your homeworld university lot you can change the lot type to "No visitors allowed", you do not need to set lottype to student union if there is the lot event marker. Then only the students, professors and sims who go to rhabbithole specific actions can be there.

Thanks for this tip! I will try this out next time.

My sim definitely graduated with a degree. He went to the graduation ceremony on Saturday but the problem is, he didn't automatically switch into cap & gown before entering the Annex. I will have to manually switch him into cap & gown I guess.

The other problem is the invitations to his family and friends to attend the graduation. The notification popped up, but when I pressed the button to invite them, nothing happened. So there was no way to push them to attend the graduation. I guess I will have to manually invite them with MC then?

Thanks so much for this, but how do I access the orientation layout?

I would not recommend to invite too many sims, because also the other students may attend with their fellows, this could cause your game to crash.
The ones of your household will attend automatically and I thought, "family" not active do come automatically too?

When you open the menu of the event lot marker select the menu "orientation layout" and place everything there, then change the menu back. These objects will be invisible then until the orientation day, so be carefull where you place it, don't place anything else where you place it.

The test sim I'm using doesn't have family so no one went to the graduation. I couldn't invite his friends though through the normal graduaton invite. I will use a household with more people in it for the next testing. If that works and family automatically goes to the graduation, then I'm happy enough with that. In that case, friends don't need to come.

Thanks so much for explaining this and telling me the difference between three different layouts. I think what confused me was that there was a "Layout Two" (which I didn't know was used for lectures) and "Orientation Layout" (for some reason I didn't recognize this as being used for the Meet & Greet). I was able to decorate the lot for the Meet & Greet and will test the game again.

Thanks so much!
