Everything is Changed

Post by Sonshine » November 23rd, 2019, 1:28 am

Hi, I just had a sim travel to Riverview, but when I got there, everything was changed around (sims not houses) and names were changed and some resident sims were missing. There was a Lessen in the rocker mansion, but it wasn't Jon, Hunter Cottoneye was missing, as well as some others. Also, Constance Shelley was in the red "cracker box mill" house instead of Lothario (also missing) and instead of in her normal house. Anyway, everything is messed up and I'm just wondering if this is normal? I've never traveled to this town in this particular save game before.

There are mods that can cause this, particularly the professor fix by Aussomedays at MTS so I'd try the travel over with just our mods. Additional causes are exiting the main menu after playing a town then loading another save.

Thanks Chain. The latter is probably the reason b/c I do that quite often. I've just never experienced this before. I don't have the professor fix.

It is always a best practice, no matter how inconvenient it is, to quit all the way to the Desktop (or Origin if relevant) after putting away one save and before loading a different or new one. There is a bug in the game itself that doesn't clear the contents of RAM completely if one only retreats to the Main Menu in between game loads and that can cause the data of one game save to get superimposed onto the next game to load. This happens even to players without mods, but the presence of the Traveler mod can make the bad effects worse or more likely to happen.

I did spend quite a while trying to figure out why traveler makes it worse but had no luck. There's some sort of weird interaction with stale RAM data and the way traveler hooks into the game on world load but it eludes me for now.
