Website Downtime [Nov 16]

Post by Chain_Reaction » November 17th, 2019, 2:22 pm

Yesterday we experienced access issues from 12 PM to 10:30 PM EST from routes in except routes from Asia. Unfortunately because the issue was severe packet loss and not a total outage, my monitoring system did not detect that anything was wrong and thus I wasn't aware something was wrong till I checked my server dashboard around 5PM. I then tried to make sure something wasn't broken on my end before alerting my data center of the issue.

It appears the issue was caused by improperly configured network routing at my data center. An investigation is under way to figure out how it got in such a state. This is actually the second time network functionality has gotten into a puzzling state over there and although I can't really complain about the service, their network engineers seem to be half asleep and create some whopper mistakes sometimes...

This is just a note that I addressed the issue when I became aware of it and all should be fine now. :)
