Law Enforcement Beeper Apocalypse & Screwed Thumbnails

I vaguely remember reading somewhere about other people having the same problem, but no idea if it was solved/discovered what caused it. A sim of mine in the LE career keeps having an increasing amount of beepers in his inventory (assuming 1 is normal? idk honestly I almost never play that career) and he's currently up to 4 I think. The last one or two multiplied during/after traveling and returning home. None of them can be interacted with in any way (only the Nraas menu shows up when you click them). Any idea what's causing it and is it safe to flush all but one? Is there a "right" one even?

Second thing is more of a "cosmetic issue" but it annoys me beyond belief. You know how sometimes the little sim thumbnails in the portraits and/or the UI get the sim's face screwed up - kinda like they have all their sliders reset and none of the custom ones are taken into account (a.k.a. terrible puddingface syndrome). Their actual faces still look normal and all. The thing is when this randomly happens it can stay that way for infuriatingly long time and so far I haven't found any way to regenerate them short of MC Reset Lot/Reset Everything. Which is a pretty ridiculous way to fix thumbnails, methinks. Any other, less intrusive ways to do it are very welcome :)

Hi there. Hopefully I can give you something that'll help you figure out a way to fix or at least manage these issues.

Beeper: I don't know why you're getting several or how to find the "right" one. You're only meant to carry them once you get them from LE/Medical careers and wait for them to activate, you can't really do anything with them. If the Sim keeps getting called in randomly, one of them is working. However, I have seen that multiplication of items on returning from vacations once or twice too.

I found a very similar thread here on Nraas with a reply from Igazor that seems to sum it up.

Also found this thread over at MTS in case you might want to try it, but like Igazor explained in the one linked above, you would probably end up deleting all of your beepers at once and need to get a new one (if you wanted).
To sell: click on Sim -> NRaas -> Master Controller -> Basic -> Sell Item.
To delete (needs Cheats module): click on Sim -> NRaas -> MasterController -> Household -> Object Stats -> Inventory.
Note that this doesn't guarantee you won't keep getting extras since we don't know where they're coming from. There's also a way to delete things with DebugEnabler (according to this thread with Radius Purge), but I'm not sure of it and the mod's documentation isn't up yet for me to look it up and check.

I also read that Overwatch has the option Clean Up Inventory that's enabled by default and should help clear your inventory of items that show as being there when they aren't, don't know if you have that installed. And ErrorTrap, in case this is causing/is caused by a script error somewhere, which would produce a log you can upload, though honestly I don't think this is your case.

Something that might be related to the issue itself is your Sim quitting or getting demoted and promoted again since you first got the beeper. They apparently don't disappear from inventory if the Sim quits and are hard to get rid of. A Sim can receive the same reward more than once (ex: police car) when using MC to hop between career levels so I'm guessing it's a possibility.

Thumbnails: I was positive there was an option somewhere to reset the portraits but I couldn't for the life of me find it.
I did find Igazor's reply to a post on TheSims Forums suggesting changing an accessory that's visible to force the portrait to update, instead of going with a Reset as you have so far. Might take a bit after you've made the change to see it in effect, but could be worth a try.

Let me know if I botched any of the links, I'll be glad to write them out fully instead.

Thank you, I read through the beeper threads and I'll just flush them all next time I switch to that household. I really don't care about him getting random calls and it none of them has ever gone off in all the time I've played the family, so out they go.

Will try the accessory change fix, too. The glitch tends to happen when editing them in cas/stylist now that I think about it so maybe sticking them back in will fix it. :)
