Help: Script Errors caught by ErrorTrap

Post by StarkofGenius » September 6th, 2019, 3:47 am

Hi again. I recently started up a new game and just as I was finishing the decor - switched to live so I could order my Sims to get out of the way - the ErrorTrap message popped up. And kept popping up every couple of seconds in a loop.

I uploaded the log, the name is: ScriptError_DESKTOP-B339PTH__09-06-2019__08-11-01__205CC074. Couldn't quite figure out how you can see which are the latest submissions and from whom directly in the Upload screen so I thought I'd leave it here to prevent confusion. Hope it's okay to just upload it.

Bottom line is, as long as the game is in Live mode and time is running, I keep getting endless messages about a Script Error. I checked the log myself but couldn't make anything out, seems to be the same message over and over again.
Can very well be CC I added to the house (furniture, decor, tech, the works), in which case any idea of what would be greatly appreciated. If there's no indication, I guess I'll have to delete items one by one till I find it.
But if that's not it, I'm at a loss. It's a new save with newly created Sims in an untouched Bridgeport, and this only started happening towards the end of all my decorating.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Busted service assignment. Those can be tricky. Have you tried saving and reloading to see if Register or Overwatch clear it up?

Help: Script Errors caught by ErrorTrap

I haven't, not since it started happening in my last session, but that's what I'll be trying tonight. I'll report back on it once I have, to either close this topic or ask for further help. Thanks for clearing it up for me, Chain.

When I read 'Gameplay.Services' in the log, I did think of Service Sims and how I hadn't let in-game time run long enough for the mods to finish assigning everyone before I started furnishing, and in a new neighbourhood to boot. I just hadn't thought this might make a difference, I only considered the amount of CC I have (which don't have service scripts but I wasn't sure that's what it was, I don't yet know how to read the logs properly).

Mostly out of curiosity and as reference for the future:
- could this have happened because I switched between Live and Buy mode and interrupted a process related to Service assignment?
- or because I didn't let it finish when I first started the neighbourhood and moved them in?
- or could it be because I would load up the save, go straight into Buy mode as soon as I got the pop-ups about SP and Careers running, continued my work, saved (with Saver prompts) and exited the game without letting in-game time run at all? I did this a few times because I didn't have a lot of time to play in the last few days, couldn't finish furnishing the flat in one go.

Basically, any further information on what might have caused this would be helpful so I can try to prevent it next time. Thanks again.

I'm not entirely sure what causes it I'm afraid. It is odd that a new game is already busted. You definitely should let the game run for a couple Sim hours when starting a new hood though. There's a lot that gets initialized during that period.

Then my conclusion is that I didn't give the mod enough time to assign all service Sims and somewhere along the way all the interruptions caused that script error that kept popping up. At least it makes sense and I'll remember this for the future, thanks for easing my mind.

I've loaded up the game, had one consignment clerk assigned and no other issues. Really glad nothing else came of it.
