I'm trying to adjust my sims Energy motives. I want them to be tired out about 1:00 am.(so they can enjoy clubs) At the moment they seem to be ready for bed by 5:00 pm and I have to cheat by moving their motive bar up. I found the settings in Relativity but, as usual, I'm confused LOL. What are these settings and how should I adjust them?
1. Motive Decay Factors: at the moment these are set to:
Energy, Hygiene, Hunger, Bladder and Energy 1.25.
2. What is Motive Delta Factors? All are set to 1
3. What is Relative Motives? All are set to False.

There's far too many variables to be able to specify an exact combination of settings for every sim. We have no idea what time your sims get up and whether they are totally refreshed when they do so or just hungry or in a hurry to rush out to work but still tired. Nor do we know what they do all day long, different activities expend energy at different rates (do they watch tv and nap all day or are they professional athletes or martial artists?)
But regardless of your starting points, it's fine to adjust the settings in the directions you wish until you get the results you want.
Relative Motives subject the sims motive gains/decays to the changes Relativity makes to the game clock speed. If you leave all of them on False, then motives will gain/decay at the same rates as if your overall Relativity setting were 37. I would suggest changing them all to True, but you don't have to if you have a reason not to. Some of this is more art than science.
Motive Deltas are the adjusted rates applied on top of the Relative changes for the replenishment of motives when a sim is doing something that raises the motive levels. For Energy, that would be sleeping, napping, getting/giving a massage, drinking tea from the Olde Mill tea set (there aren't many energy-replenishing activities in this game). Values over 1 are faster replenishment, 1 itself is standard so no change, under 1 (fractions between 0 and 1) are slower.
Motive Decays are the adjusted rates applied on top of the Relative changes for the depletion of motives when a sim is doing something that lowers (uses up) the motive levels. For Energy that would be exercising, swimming, jogging, working out, fighting, making up (I mean woohooing), and really just being awake but of course these things use up energy at different rates themselves. Values over 1 are faster depletion, 1 itself is standard so no change, under 1 (fractions between 0 and 1) are slower. At 1.25, you are making your sims use their energy when they are awake 25% faster than standard.
I suggest making your motives all relative and change those 1.25s to 1s to get a good starting point. Or, again more art than science, you could leave things as they are but change the Motive Decay for Energy in particular in the other direction like 0.75. You will know if you've gone too far, your sims won't be tired at 1 am or they might spring out of bed at 3 am all refreshed every morning. Note these settings are going to apply to all sims in town so you don't want to customize them necessarily for one particular household and it's going to take possibly more than a sim day to see the full effects.
Uni is where even I have to gesture wildly and the screen and try all kinds of different values because Uni World sims' autonomy is so goofy. Don't know why I even try to make any sense out of things they do there, I never could on the others I went to school with myself so many years ago either (and I'm sure they never knew quite what to make of me either, but that's beside the point).

Thanks igazor. That sort of clarified a few things.
My sims usually get up around 5:00 am give or take 30 mins. A couple have the Meditative Trance Sleep. I find that helpful for those with babies. So I know they gain energy while sleeping much faster. But, for the normal sims.... if sims are ever normal, they are usually fully rested by 5:00 am.
I have my game speed set to 19
I'll check out your suggestion with the Relative Motives and set them all to True.
I'll leave the Delta Motives as if for now
For the Motive Decay I'll set that to 0.75 and see how that does.
I agree with you for the uni world. I hate going there. First thing that frustrates me is the days when they have 3 classes one right after the other. By the time they're done, they're in the red for Hunger and Energy. I make them carry apples and chomp on them between classes. Besides that, I find the whole uni experience boring. Plus I get fed up with seeing the same students that were there when great grandpa went to uni.

Oh no, I love playing Uni World for a change (not all the time, thanks) and I repopulate it periodically using SP and Rapid Immigration. I only meant that inactives there, not my sims strictly, keep schedules that make no sense to me. Uni students can be erratic, but I don't remember very many of them getting up at 3 am IRL unless they have a paper to write and the sims in Uni World also aren't known for taking care of their own needs very well.

Ah, too true. Good idea to use RI to change up the students. For me the uni world is too fast paced and not enough time to do fun things.
