Singed.....?

Post by JohnL83 » March 2nd, 2019, 2:52 pm

Back to normal Sim3 and Mod questions... :P

Why won't sims auto clean up after being singed?? Even my neat sims don't seem to want to automatically shower after such an event. Plus you sometimes get NA sims running around doing everyday things looking stupid and burned up. Is there some way to get them to autonomously shower after being singed?
Generally I just direct them to do it, but when I'm managing a larger group it's a pain, especially when it happens a lot. I'm trying to get my elders to discover the young again potion, but they keep blowing up! I don't know why since they are both 10's at nearly everything else, both are neat and both have other good traits that managed to let them learn just about everything else! Anyway, if someone knows of a Retuner setting or something I'd appreciate that.

Also, about the life fruit. My sims grow it all the time and make all sorts of things with it. It's a great fertilizer and fish bait too! Sometimes I even have them eat one now and again, that said: My question is, since it doesn't actually show up that they have their life extended, does that mean there's a tally being kept "behind the curtain" so to speak? It does say I've extended their life, but I never see any evidence of this. My two elders, sigh...one reaches his max age in 5 more sim days and his hubby in 12. They work out often, and only occasionally do I have them eat the life fruit raw, but I imagine this may actually translate into many days past their max date? I know we don't know, but I guess I'm asking, if all these factors go into extending their life, does the game start "rolling the dice" after however many extra day's I've given them with all this?

Singed.....?

If Sims were as smart as we sometimes want them to be, they wouldn't need us to control their lives. :-)

Generally though I can't immediately think of any instances where Sims act to autonomously to remove negative moodlets unless that moodlet is associated with a low motive. If Singed also dropped their Hygiene motive way down, then they'd probably autonomously shower and get rid of it, but they'd really be responding to the motive not the moodlet.

As for the life fruit and lifespan extension, it's most noticeable when a Sim is in the first day of an age category. For example if Adulthood lasts 20 days, and Jane Q. Simmy has just aged into the Adult category, if she eats a life fruit, she'll be listed as aging up in 21 days.

I'm not sure exactly how that works with Elders, because I tend to Age Freeze Sims I become attached to. (I started on TS1, where aging wasn't a thing, and skipped TS2 entirely mostly because they added aging.)

Singed: Oh come on, it's a "new" outfit for them and you probably don't take them clothes shopping often enough. Let them enjoy it for a while. :D

Life Fruit: Provides an immediate reduction in their total age by 1 sim day no matter what life stage they are in. It might not show up on the info panel under Days to Age Up right away, that can take a few sim hours at least to update itself. It should show properly under MC > Status > Personal (and Career). There is no tally or banking of the days saved, again the effect is immediate including on elders. It's the same with soymilk and, by a percent chance with each serving, gourmet pet food provided the sim eating it is actually a pet.

LOL Igazor, I hate the singed outfit! What bugs me more is that hair! Even bald sims suddenly have blown back hair. It's silly. :P

Oh well...I can deal. I was just curious.

Funny thing, a while back I had a sim who was a townie that I played for a couple days who for some reason had the singed outfit as her naked clothing. LOL. Not sure how that happened, but I never fixed it cuz I haven't played her again and I sorta forgot until just now.
About that naked outfit...I've also had guys get nude and have the stupid ponytails that often appear when they age up. I've discovered a pattern to that glitch though, the guys (and sometimes girls) who end up with that hair upon aging up or as naked hair (at least in my games) are any who have either a custom hairstyle, or one of the ones you only get in the stylist window. Any sims I've had with custom or stylist hairdo's have gotten the twin ponytails about 80% of the time when aging up from YA to A, but not as often from teen to YA or A to Elder.

This is the chemistry bench? I do have some Retuner settings which might help. The chance of failure and success while trying to discover a potion at the chemistry bench is each a fixed value. So, I infer that logic level and traits won't affect affect failures or success rate. Logic level does unlock which potions can be discovered though, see here.

NRaas>Retuner>Settings>General>By Tunable XML>Sims3.Gameplay.HobbiesSkills>ChemistryLab+DiscoverPotion
kChanceForDiscoverFail is the percent chance sims will get singed. Default is 14.
kChanceForDiscovery is the percent chance a new potion will be discovered. Default is 20.

NRaas>Retuner>Settings>General>By Tunable XML>Sims3.Gameplay.HobbiesSkills>ChemistryLab
kMinutesPerDiceRoll is the number of sim-minutes between checks to see if the sim has reached a result yet (either success or failure). Default is 30.

If you don't want any failures then try setting kChanceForDiscoverFail to 0.

I find the rate of discovering potions to be rather slow for my taste and have these settings as follows:
kChanceForDiscoverFail to 10
kChanceForDiscovery to 30
kMinutesPerDiceRoll to 20

Thank you very much for that TreyNutz It did wonders. Oddly enough, as soon as I did those changes, played the game, the very next potion my elder created was the young again potion and he did it in about 60 sim minutes. :)

And yet........ :huh::(:no:

I had a birthday party set this day for their teen granddaughter so I waited for them to take it, she aged up to YA, the party was very nice, BUT when I went into stylist (via MC) and started to give her clothes that weren't ridiculous...the game just up and quit! First time that has ever happened like that! I've had crashes and error 12's but never just had the game quit. Hell, even when I close the game normally I stare at a black screen and the swirl for about a minute or two before I'm back to desktop! The only thing I can figure is that the party overloaded the game and it crashed, I'm assuming it quit so abruptly that way because I was in the border-less windowed mode? It's the only variable that was different from every other time I've played and had issues.

Anyhooo...he's going to have to discover it again, and it probably wont be the same potion next time, but we'll get there. I like that setting much better so thanks again. I just wish the game ran better on Win 10! I've had more crashes and issues that I did on the old PC, even though the visuals look 100 times better on this PC. I did turn things back down a bit to see if that helps. Graphics are still higher than the old PC, but most things are around medium to medium high now. I hope it makes a difference. But I'm thinking graphics are not the issue since my CitiesSkylines is maxed out in graphics and runs beautifully. I see why so many got frustrated with Sims 3 and moved on to 4. But I'm a trouper and will just keep trying! I really hate to give up the town and the cars.
