Mermaids are NOT homeless!
I have recently started a new save in Isla Paradiso, and while I was working on the scuba diving skill I was wondering why I never saw any mermaids. So I looked them up with Master Controller and they were all 'out of town'. Then I saw somewhere in their status that they were some kind of homeless according to the game. Which makes sense if they live under water. However, I then understood what had happened, because SP always asks if you are okay with kicking out homeless sims, and I always press yes. I believe that mermaids living in the ocean should be excluded from this action, so I thought I'd make a post about that here!

The four (?) stock NPC mermaids that come with Isla Paradiso are part of the service pool. If they are not instantiated on the map, they tend to go into hibernation like other service sims do and may show up as not in the world when sought for. I never use SP's Manage the Homeless nor accept its offer to run them out of town myself, but was under the impression that currently assigned Service Sims were exempt from those options.

Ah so it was just bad timing that when I checked they were all gone, and I should have just waited for them to return. Thx!

Well, at least I hope that's what has happened. I don't have much experience with the service mermaids. Perhaps others here can tell you what to check on to make sure they are okay, wherever they might be hiding on you.AlHollandiyah wrote: ↑February 10th, 2019, 5:36 pmAh so it was just bad timing that when I checked they were all gone, and I should have just waited for them to return. They might be afraid I'm after their kelp and island.... (I am.)
