Sara mentioned that she had seen a tutorial about this, but I have googled it and couldn't find anything. Does anyone know where I could find one?
thanks

Sims can't swim in ponds on lots. What was probably done was they made a small pool look like a pond. In Twinbrook the Pidgin residence has something similar a pool that looks like it was "merged" into a pond.

That is the sort of thing I am after. I am not the most creative person in the world, and I was looking for a bit of inspiration or help to create some sort of merged pool. I would like one in Dry Gulch, as a swimming hole.
thanks

I saw it only on the russian-language resource and I don't know whether there is an analogue in English. But if you need it, you can use translator. I hope the translation doesn't distort the meaning too much.

I've never done this myself, but one of the "ponds" in Great Bear's world is swimmable. Sittingbear is right - it's a pool cleverly disguised as a lake. Perhaps you can download the world and see how it was done? The creator is Johnnywr and the world can be found if you google it.
Hope this helps!

thanks for all your help.

sittingbear - I have installed Great Bear and saved a copy of that park to my commercial lots. I think I can do a lot with that.

Sara - that is exactly what I was thinking of. Even if I cannot translate the text, the pictures should be a help in trying to recreate what they did.

thanks to you both.

sheridanhoughton, as you probably already realized: gist is that they from one edge "drowned" the pool. And then they covered traces. Disguise ugly edges is really easy if you have good skills in building. However, I would start with the idea that you can create a very curved pool and colorize it as the natural environment to make it look like an artificial lake. For maximum naturalness with some edges, you can also raise the landscape and make irregularities (using constrainfloorelevation false), and also decorate the lake, using plants and stones. I think that for a town with no access to the ocean, a beach with such a lake is the best solution.

thanks Sara. I have given it a try, but will have to practice getting the edges to look ok. I really appreciate your help. this is exactly what I wanted.
thanks

Sheridan, if you want to translate that tutorial, I use Google Translator. It sits on my menu bar and whenever I get a page I can't read, I just click the Google Translator icon and it changes it to English.
