Toddlers and travel...

Is there a way to alter who picks up the toddler or baby when you send a family to a lot or venue? It is so irritating that for whatever stupid reason the sim carrying the kid takes a cab even when they have their own car. And as far as I have seen it's random who picks up the kid when you have a family head out on a trip. I used to think the one who grabs the toddler or baby was the one you had selected when you click to go to a lot, but there have been times when another adult or teen will pick the kid up to go. When that happens they will all hop into the car your sim owns and NOT a cab. I just want my sims, who all have their own cars 90% of the time, to drive their own effin car!

I have mentioned before that it annoys me to no end that with the Daycare job you actually get a van for work, but I have no idea why when you can't take a toddler anywhere unless someone else is carrying the stupid brat! Does anyone know of a way to travel with a toddler so that you always take a car if your sims own one?

Well no, and I believe we have covered this before. The problem is that in the universe of TS3, baby and toddler car seats/restraints have never been invented so a sim in the vehicle has to hold the baby or toddler on their lap. The sim driving cannot do that and drive at the same time, so that's why the taxis are invoked. It would admittedly be wonderful if there were a car seat mod out there, but I've never heard of one.

Does it not help to have the desired sim already holding the toddler before sending the household anywhere, or do you find that they set them down and some other random sim picks them up instead? I don't recall having such a struggle with this if the toddler is already being held but maybe I've just shrugged and accepted it without realizing it right now.

Does it make a difference if you click on the actual car and select "Go to Community Lot" (or whatever the option is)? I'm not sure whether that would force the sims to use the car and therefore push another family member to pick up the toddler?

Sorry, I got this figured out. Have someone pick up the sim first, then have another family member take everyone to the lot. IDK why I didn't think of this before, but one gets frustrated and all rational thought can fly out the window. Still, if you have a daycare sim who's the only adult there then it's still the same silly frustration.

And Igazor, I do remember this now that you said that but dude, they have smart phones, computers and video games but haven't invented car seats? ;)

Not all civilizations progress in the same perfect, orderly manner in which ours has here on Earth. (coughs, gets nausea moodlet, etc.) :D
