I Have a Flirty Baby

Post by TreyNutz » January 5th, 2019, 11:45 am

My sim cloned an alien sim and the baby came with the Clumsy and Flirty traits. I guess an infant with Flirty is a result of the cloning? I do have a 'more traits' mod which enables more traits for infants and children, but no romantic ones (double checked on Flirty - teen and above only). The sim who provided the DNA sample is Clumsy, but not Flirty.

What's weird is that when I tried to use MC to change the trait, Flirty wasn't on the list at all so I couldn't remove it. Maybe I should try the 'Clean' command? Or, actually, it just occurred to me to take the infant into Edit in CAS. I'll try that. If that doesn't work I wonder if I can change my tuning mod to temporarily allow Flirty on infants to get it to show up on MC's list. Don't really want a flirty baby. Or flirty toddler. Definitely not a flirty child.

Offhand I don't see why a trait that offers no benefits to the sims before they are old enough to make use of any of the interactions it provides is really harmful. I mean, it's not like a Flirty child or younger can really engage in adult interactions or be subjected to attraction formula related things any more than a Clumsy baby would trip over themselves since they cannot walk yet or an Eccentric toddler would be driven to use the inventing stations. Maybe I'm missing something, but wouldn't the Flirty trait just stay dormant until the sim is a teen?

Now a child with the Dislikes Children trait might be interesting. :)

At first I was mainly just surprised that the game would give an infant a trait which is normally restricted to teens and above. Then I wondered if I had screwed up my 'more traits' mod (I hadn't) and then I had to check whether I have any other mods which tune the traits.xml (Dashboard says I don't).

Then I started to wonder if a child sim with the Flirty trait would spin up wishes to flirt even though they wouldn't have the interactions to actually do so. I have seen child sims get wishes which cannot be completed because they are too young and sometimes that's due to a a trait normally restricted to older sims.

Then I was concerned about unexpected consequences. For example, in my first 'more traits' mod I had Brooding tuned as available for children. I later gave a child sim that trait and he got into one of those 'made a new friend, immediately said something stupid, lost a friend' situations which happens all too often. His social immediately plummeted (due to the Brooding trait) and I got a notice that the social worker might come if I didn't get his moods back up. I didn't think of that happening when I was tuning the traits.xml. Probably nothing that serious would happen with Flirty, but I guess I prefer to be cautious with the romantic traits and restrict them to teens and above.

For this infant, I took him into Edit in CAS via MC and when I went to change his traits Flirty didn't even show up as one he had - I didn't even need to select to remove it; it was gone. I randomized a few times and decided to go with Over-Emotional and Clumsy. Seems ok, although the trip to Edit in CAS removed his hidden Future Sim trait, which I added back via MC.

TreyNutz - Yep, I understand your thought processes and just to clarify I didn't mean to sound dismissive of your desire to remove the trait. The player just not wanting to see that is reason enough. Was just trying to come up with scenarios in the game when having that trait too early might cause gameplay issues. I hadn't thought of the dream manager, sure that's a valid concern as well although of course those wishes could just be held onto for a very long time. I wouldn't want to see those either, though.

Glad to hear that simply bringing the sim into CAS instantly cleared the trait, though.
