Ultimate Careers Mod

Post by LBillusion » January 4th, 2019, 2:47 pm

I recently began to get back into the Sims 3 and I downloaded the Zebru's Ultimate Careers Mod and so far I highly suggest it, even though I haven't fully implemented all of the features into my town. Seeing sims I created at actual workplaces and schools instead of rabbit holes is awesome. I'm testing ways to makes the system work best, but so far it works like a dream incorporated with Nraas mods to give me full control over my neighborhood. I do have some questions if anyone has downloaded this mod though. There is supposed to be an option to enable custom careers, but I don't see it. Also, the feature to add objects to the careers isn't showing up for me and apparently this feature was added. I've seen a tutorial that mentions these options, but I can't seem to get them in my game. Any help would be appreciated. Also, let me know if you plan to use this mod so we can exchange tips and ideas.

As far as I'm aware, any custom career should just show up as an option within the Ultimate Career mod's menu, when clicking on a building, providing the custom career has been made correctly. For example, I have the custom 'Vicar Career' installed and have enabled it on my church building using the Ultimate Careers mod by selecting 'Faith' in the menu. It's a bit hard to explain, sorry. Which custom careers are you trying to enable the Ultimate Careers mod with? Do they not work?

I'm not sure this feature actually exists. At least, I've never found it. Can you link to the tutorial that mentions this?

The functionality you are describing works, what I was looking at I found it here. I think I figured out a workaround, but I want to enable the computer on certain careers so it increases their job performance and possibly limit some of the items used. I'm looking into creating custom careers so this would be an awesome feature if it exists. There are so many on MissHissy's Job Centre and other places though there may be no need. I even downloaded Saturday jobs. I'm not much of a fan of TS4 so Ultimate Careers has been a revelation combined with all the other mods here.

Ultimate Careers Mod

I use this mod all the time and love it. I had a hard time finding lots/buildings that would support this mod so I ended up building all the workplaces. I made them small so they could fit in any world but they work perfectly. If you want to take a look at them you can find them on my website here.

I've already downloaded all your lots. Thanks! Now I'm planning on traveling to other worlds and adding careers to those worlds and etc. I plan to take some pictures of how I play to give people ideas for specialty schools and what not.

The functionality you are describing works, what I was looking at I found it here.

That link is where I downloaded the Vicar Career from but I don't remember having to click on City Hall to 'Assign Career Type' in step 4. As I said previously, I just clicked on my Church building and selected Zerbu > Ultimate Careers > Add Career or School > Faith > City Hall. That seemed to be all that was necessary to make the career work the way I wanted it to.

I think Cinderellimouse's guide may be slightly outdated, as the options don't match up exactly to the options that are now available in the Ultimate Careers mod. For example, step 2 says to click on City Hall and choose 'Zerbu' > 'Ultimate Careers' > 'Enable/Disable Careers'.'Custom Careers' but that option no longer exists anymore. I think Zerbu may have updated the mod after Cinderellimouse wrote her guide.

I'm using version 4.3.3 of The Ultimate Careers mod which is available from Zerbu's Realm: Ultimate Careers V4. I think this is the same link as Cinderellimouse has in her guide so I'm not sure why they don't match. Zerbu has his own helpful guide on how to use his mod at that same link and we (NRaas) also have a guide, which unfortunately is not available here on the new site yet but can still be accessed through the Wayback Machine here: Zerbu's Ultimate Careers Mod.

To go back to Cinderellimouse's guide for a minute, in step 4 where she says "...you need to tell the mod which objects the sims should use to build their career performance." it's more a case of deciding which objects you want the custom career to use and then seeing which rabbithole career Zerbu has assigned those objects to. I'm not quite sure how to explain this part any further as I don't think any of the instructions in step 4 are necessary anymore.

As far as I know, the only way to enable the computer on certain careers is to associate it with a rabbithole career that already has a computer designated as one of its objects, like the Political or Business Careers. To limit some of the objects used, I just don't place them in the career building. So for example, in my Business Office Building, I only place computers and bookcases and in my City Hall Building, I only place computers and podiums.

Sorry this is such a long post but I hope it helps. :-)

@Sarah_SIms your post is perfect it helped me a bunch. I think somehow I assigned most of my careers to the city hall, but the fact that they are ALL showing up there is encouraging. Hopefully, I'll get the kinks worked out but it's already making the sims much more enjoyable for me. Since my sim lifespan is so long I need to tune the speed at which they gain work performance. It's so much better because now it gives my sims reason to use all the expansion and store items I have. My town is alread much more lively.
