Hello!
I have a weird issue with my apartment lots and I'm not sure if this is a general bug or something that only happens in my game. Once I zone a lot as an apartment the map tag is always visible, even when I'm playing another household it's always there hovering in the background as if I were in neighbourhood view. This happens in both university and regular worlds and it doesn't matter whether the lot is occupied or vacant.
Is this normal? It's kind of preventing me from making apartments Is there some way of making the tag time out or making it invisible?

Not sure about the persistent lot tag issue, but then again I almost never use that lot type designation on purpose. Its function is to switch on the town's Roommate Service and keep it on permanently, allowing up to 7 NPC Roommates to move in and share living space once the lot becomes populated depending on how many permanent residents are moved in. It's really a dormitory type of lot setup, not what most of us think of as a real "apartment."
Is this the kind of lot you are intentionally trying to work with?

Thanks, Igazor
I'm playing it as a single family lot but I wanted them to pay rent instead of buying the lot. The map tag is there when I play other families on different lots as well. If I have several apartments in my town then all of their map tags are visible in the background whether I'm playing an apartment lot or not :O

But that isn't how Uni Style apartments work. The one resident household owns the lot and pays property taxes on it like any other (inactive as well if using SP Money). The NPC Roommates pay rent to the household that owns it. The one real household does not pay rent unless under SP Money another household owns the lot as a residential real estate investment.
That's EA's implementation of that lot type, anyway. It's admittedly pretty weak.
Are you using Ani's Apartment mod (from here) or PJSutton's (from MTS) to expand/change the definition of what an apartment lot of this type really is? I've not used either mod, though each they do have loyal followings and I understand they are not meant to be used at the same time. So would either of those be in play or are these standard "vanilla" Uni Style apartment lots?

Yes, my issue isn't with the functionality of the lot, just the persistent map tag. It happens as soon as I zone the lot as an apartment, no matter whether or not I've played the lot or how I've played it. I have both of those mods you mentioned but hadn't tried using them on an apartment lot type so they were vanilla Uni apartments. I tried loading my game completely mod free and still have the issue so I guess it's just a weird random bug in my game
Also, I didn't realise that the household living on the lot wasn't periodically charged rent. That's pretty lame, EA. So thanks Igazor for helping me fix the bug by making me realise I don't need that lot type LOL
