Oh, and I ended up completely uninstalling Origin from my PC. I'm not taking any chances. LOL

hedgekat I think you have to uninstall Origin and then completely reinstall it over again when you get that error. I had that happen once a long time ago and I believe that's how I resolved it, anyway.

Once you have Origin reinstalled, go to preferences and you should see the options for allowing automatic updates. (Sorry everyone for all the back to back posts.)

I screwed up big time. Origin was left open as I was playing other games. I just installed anther game last night and thought it was an update for that. GRRRRRR, I now have an update that I don't want. I have now unchecked automatic game updates, but I'm not sure what to do now. I hope my game is not affected. Perhaps I will try and play with some test saves.

Just chiming in to let everyone know I experimented with the update. I'm not really that impressed, but anyway:

I got the "unofficial mod warning". I have overwatch and error trap which I think was the reason for the message. I was able to get into the game and other than looking a bit off graphics wise it seemed to load fine. Didn't get it enough time to see about crashing. I will go from here saying that I probably won't boot it again until those are updated and go from there.

Yup it's updated to v.1.69.xxxx . I'm so mad right now (angry tears right now). It was just so sneaky even how they worded it. I mean yeah it was my fault for not looking too closely as I really did think it was for another game. They have never used Origin to update my sims game before. Now I can't even find a way to get rid of it. Before there were ways to delete the updates and just apply a superpatch. Okay, back to angry cry now....

The following words added to the post by SimGuruDrake, "During preparation for the release we have discovered that this update is not compatible with the current version of the Create-a-World (CAW) tool." have convinced me that installing this update will prevent bypassing the launcher and require Origin to play Sims 3.

Why do I say this? Because those who have the later versions of the base game, who could not play without Origin, were not able to use the EIG feature in CAW.

As someone said earlier, this update is NOT about helping the player. It's about giving Origin control over our games. I won't be updating.

I just tried an experiment. And SillySimmerGirl is correct. The origin login now shows up for Sims 3.

Okay, I changed computers this summer. Would it work if I uninstalled all my sims games (or do I just need to do the base games?) and used my back from this summer? I'd miss some of my progress on saves, but I think I'd save those before wiping them all out. Would that work in getting rid of this stupid, horrid, awful, unwanted patch that seems to break more things that if fixes? I'm kind of desperate here because I love my NRaas mods.

@Becomingjenn & Hirikosaunders; Our coder Chain_Reaction will probably comment later on today, but he already voiced his opinion on this update in the hidden replies.

If the buildversion of the game changes (and it did with that update to gameversion 1.69x) this will probably affect any Core Mods (within this suite UntranslatedKey, other well known Core Mods: Awesome Mod and CMar's XCASfull mod). If you notice any issues in gameplay after the update remove them from your setup.

As to NRaas current stance about the update, since its not a global update (Discs, Steam & Mac's), it's not something we are obliged to follow with our mods.

Though that's a decision for our coder to make.

@Becomingjenn; if you haven't started your collection of saved games yet, then there is nothing to worry about. The prime concern is that you don't disable any of the EP's if those Saves were running on such EP's. As to mods read that section above.
