Ugh! Caste problems

Post by littlelambsy » October 7th, 2018, 12:50 am

These sims are really starting to get "up my nose!" The first world I set up had all my sims gaining matial arts skills when caste and disallowed skills should have stopped it. So, I ditched the world and built up a new world. Now they're not gaining martial arts skills, but they're getting married!!! All are in my "Rotational Families" caste which forbids marriage (priority 9)  So why do I find two sims in this caste now married?  Will these sims every behave!  I'm seriously thinking of ditching all custom worlds and setting up in Riverview (my favorite EA world).

I understand that your Priority 9 Rotational Caste forbids marriage -- actually do you mean that it forbids Romance or is it some other setting that you are using? But what does it say on Sim Options on one or more of these sims -- is the caste option properly filtering down to them?

Also keep in mind that SP really only governs what SP can do with sims in many cases. There could be an external force in play. Do you not have (or did you have) one of those More Romantic Interactions mods from the Sims Asylum in play or was that all in the past?

Both families in the caste have Marriage set to False on the Sim Level. In the caste I have romance/steady set to true, break up and marriage set to false. So they can meet and go steady with sims but cannot marry, and those married can't breakup.  I do have blue's more autonomous romance up to marriage, but I've always had that and my sims have never married before while in the caste. They have lots of lovers because they're allowed romance, but none have ever married before. So I don't understand why, when I change worlds and import the same settings, everything goes south.

LittleLambsy -  I like Riverview too and Sunset Valley. But Riverview is nicer IMO because of all the pre-done worlds I have, Riverview is the one that allows for the most building and even adding of new lots. It's really a shame that EA gave us tools to modify some of the world but not all of it. If I could nicely level out more than just a lot space along many of those roads I could do so much more in these towns!
I can't get the world maker on Steam so I have no idea about doing that, does it also allow you to terraform existing hilly land in places like Sunset Valley?
What town bugs me most is Appaloosa because you have all that nice open land and can't build on half of it because of the darn fences and I can't remove them...only trees. So there's so much free space that just goes to waste.

Yes, I like river view but am disappointed about no beaches. I like beaches. The size overwhelms.s me as well but I can adjust to that, it's still my favorite.  All my games are on steam but I've never tried the create a world. I'm having enough trouble with the already made worlds LOL.

I am pretty sure CAW allows playing with the terrain. I have a really well remade Sunset Valley that was expanded and has dive locations and everything. Was really well done. I also have a redone Twinbrook that is lovely also. They both were well done, expanded in natural looking ways, routing errors fixed. The Twinbrook on was given a New Orleans feel. I am pretty sure I have seen a redone Riverview (and I probably have it) and a few other remade EA worlds like Bridgeport, Moonlight Falls, and Al Simhara. I like the EA worlds but they really didn't do as good of a job as they could have. I searched regularly for others before my computer died, and once I am up and running again will probably look for more,or actually try messing in CAW.

I've never had issues with sims doing things they shouldn't though I don't use any other romance Mods besides woohooer from here and I tuned it to raise the liking gate for flirting so they have to be good friends before starting to flirt with somebody.I'm working on a makeover of Riverview in CAW and this one isn't going to have the routing errors because it won't be populated unless I made a populated save for it.It will have a routing check to make sure routing paint isn't where it's not supposed to go.

I'd love to have a remake of Riverview with added beaches, but then my thinking on playing in Riverveiw is to get away from custom worlds. I seem to have problems with custom worlds and don't find out about it until I've spent weeks getting it ready to play.  I've never been good with CAW and now that all my games are on Steam, I don't think CAW works well.

Just to toss this in here, I believe a series of Windows Registry changes are required to get CAW to work on Steam installs. I would have to direct players back to the Steam forums to find the exact fix. Personally I live in denial and have never attempted this because once I ever do find my way into CAW I'll probably get lost in there and never make it out again. Much respect to those who can use it effectively without losing their minds entirely.  :)

I believe that the thread people want is this one:

All the usual warnings about editing the registry apply: be very careful, back everything up beforehand, etc.
