Engineer Baby With and Customize Baby DNA

Post by RadicalChick » March 18th, 2015, 7:48 pm

Neither option under Engineer a Baby lets me choose anything other than the baby's name. I have tried both Customize Baby DNA and Randomize Baby DNA. It should let me choose hair color, eye color, and traits for the baby. I have tried this in one world. I will exit the game, and try it again in a different save file in a different world, and then report back.

I tried it again in a saved file in Midnight Hollow with a family that had traveled to the future before. I got the same results. No option to pick hair color, eye color, and traits when I chose Customize Baby DNA in the current world, only got to name the baby. It received random traits. I then tried to travel to the future twice with this family and it crashed on me both times. Don't know if this is relevant, but I installed both testing versions for Woohooer and Overwatch. Any other info or things that you would like me to try, just let me know.

Let me place my results in here as well.

I also gotten Woohooer and Overwatch latest versions. Started my World in SV with just 2 Sims and Engineer A Baby With> Customize Baby DNA with> after a long wait in the RH Hospital, it came out with the baby, no panel to customize color hair / eyes and traits.

Traveled to the Future same result, the panel seems to be gone. Haven't tried Randomize as I thought that would just do it automatically like it did with these 2 tries. My system however oppose to RC didn't crash while being in the Future.

I've never actually used the function before but from the code it appears Customize Baby DNA only works if the Sim is pregnant. The other 2 work non-pregnant Sims however it looks like randomize doesn't show the customize UI, just makes a baby with the Sim you selected and randomized genetics. Are you using the other option besides the randomize one? And is it meant to work differently?

When choosing th option to Engineer Baby with.. there are two sub-options: Customize Baby DNA and Randomize Baby DNA. The sim initiating this doesn't have to be pregnant. I am not sure if it works if they are already pregnant, I've never tried it that way before when I was in the future world. The customize UI never shows when I choose Customize Baby DNA in the home world using this version of Woohooer. I tried using both options and neither showed the UI. I didn't expect the Randomize option to show it, but I thought maybe they had gotten switched in the code. The UI should show using the Customize option when a pair of sims who aren't already pregnant Engineer a baby. Here is a link to a site that shows the UI in the future world: http://missymeowrawr.blogspot.com/2014/ ... -baby.html

I looked for a while and don't see what could be causing this. Will keep searching. :)

@Chain_Reaction - Just wondering if you have had any time to poke around to try and find out why the Customize Baby DNA option wasn't working? Not trying to be pushy, just curious. :-)

@Radical - I know that you didn't really mean it that way, but just wanted to remind you that asking an over-extended coder for an update even a month later does sometimes push the request back to the bottom of the pile of stuff they are working on. Patience if you could, please. :)
