Hi all,
Thanks again for all the help. The laptop was brand new 6 months ago (hence newish) and has only been used by me for work and mild gaming. I only got round to a sims 3 install a couple of months ago and (with nrass mods installed of course) have had no issues until now.
I just tried downloading the patch downloader to see what it said and curious thing is that it won't run. I start the program and it comes up with an error message and shuts down. Is there anywhere specific it had to be installed (instructions on the page didn't say so).
Thanks
Astro

Hi all,
Sorry for the delay getting back to you. I'm still having problems with this. So I got hold of EA (several times and taking many hours) and they had me try all sorts (Clean boot of the computer, retry everything I had already tried having done a clean boot, repair the game via origin, uninstall and reinstall origin, tun off the origin in game options in origin) before having me send App data and Program data and deciding that a file called Kernelbase.dll is broken. I'm told that this is a windows file and I will have to contact Microsoft for further assistance to fix the operating system. Has anyone heard of this before or have any idea how to fix it. It's gonna be a little while before I have time to spend half a day going going through this with Microsoft so if anyone has any ideas they would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I'm less inclined to believe that windows is broken and more inclined to believe the rep helping you told you something to get you off their back. However if they insist you can let windows try to repair any issues with it's self. If you're running Windows 10, the commands are here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/hel ... le-checker
