My sim's family (children) inherited the "salute" trait that a sim gets from the military career. Also sims that go to military school or level 2 of scouting get this trait as well. I don't recall other sims that don't have the trait being able to salute unless they are in the appropriate career to get the hidden trait or are the children of those in the military. http://sims.wikia.com/wiki/Hidden_trait
I haven't had a chance to do anything yet, but I think I'll wait and see what Veiledstar says about it in their game after re-firing it up.
The world calls for graphics/art work, and I answer. So, can I count on you to call me up for service?

Just wanted to check in with you. I didn't realize that my most recent save of this sim was in oasis landing and I don't have ITF installed. So I have been looking for an old save. I finally just used the sim that I saved to the bin apparently as a level 6 military with the family in tow. I'll get him up to top gun by tomorrow and let you know. So far the wife has no way to salute him, only the kids that were able to inherit the trait for "salute" or those that were in scouts. I'll get back to you tomorrow when I get him back up in his career. Sorry about that. I lost a lot of my saves when my PC HD went bad and I had to go back to my Mac.

At career level fighter pilot (lvl 7), my sim did not have the "show jet" interaction available to his wife in friendly nor in romantic. I demoted her to girlfriend and if still was't there (since it was a practically sort of a test save). The only special he had interactions were trait specific.
I'll get back to you in the morning when he is level 10, but I have a feeling this interaction was patched out or never put in place.

I play a lot of sims in the military career because I love that when they are at level 10 they work only for one day and they get huge salaries for that. Of cource, during that one work day, I have to use testingcheats a lot to cheat their motive bars but that's just me because I hate playing unhuppy sims, lol!
So, I have noticed other sims salute my astronauts and I think it's very cute. Since I play with low free will, other sims in the household are doing it autonomously whenever they want it. The funny thing is that sometimes when, for example, I wake up the austronaut's spouse in the middle of the night to care for a baby or toddler when I send them back to sleep they stand by the bed and they salute their spouse while the other sim is asleep. But, of cource, sims do tend to greet other sims when they are asleep in multiple ways. Or when I want a couple to get "in the mood" for woohoo and I queue some romantic interactions, sims manage to use a "salute" interaction somewhere amongst whatever I tell them to do.
I find all those situations kind of cute, I think it mirrors the respect we show IRL for people in military.
The only thing I find annoying is when I send a sim to do the laundry and they pass from the room where the austronaut sim is (awake or asleep doesnt' make a difference) and they drop the dirty laundry on the floor to salute them.
As far as the other OP's question about the "show jet" interaction or the other one about the Spaceship, I've never seen it in any interaction menu (friendly or romantic). I play so much with this career, I think I'd know if that interaction existed.
