Well, I guess I'm the one who got a bit confused here. I thought the regular career mod was what people were talking about instead of the SP Career module. I still had that and have now removed it.

Given what Chain just reported about the code not being there, I'm wondering now if the SP base mod is also interfering provided that SP's progresson is running. But it's certainly about time we had a willing guinea pig...erm, I mean test subject, test this out for us so we can be sure. :)

Pretty sure it's just the module. It replaces the carpool system which is where the code is meant to be.

I've had SP but not SP Career on my epoch long game and I have seen snow days of the no school type at the odd times when I have had children/teens in the household. It plays a little chime and the bus doesn't come which makes it 50% different than the odd school days when the bus doesn't come.

LOL @TS3Dreams. The last time I tried to have a conversation about this (not here, different forum), we ended up with players who didn't know there was a difference between the SP Career add-on module, the Careers Mod, and a few other things hence some of the understandable confusion. For all we knew, half of them didn't have Seasons installed.

At least here we should be around 50% more likely to get some useful information. With or without chimes.

Now that it's been mentioned I do recall some time waaaaay back during a heavy snow storm the school bus never came. No one was marked as "skipping school" and it was indicated they will go to school in 1 day or hours. I don't remember. I just chalked that up to the game being quirky.

I'll run a few tests later today. I have SP Careers Module as well as Careers. I'm in the middle of winter in one of my games. Will try a few scenarios starting with enabling the carpool system. I have that disabled as my sims are using subways.

Is there a way to find out if the school snow day is based on temperature and weather or just the whim of the RNG gods? It would make testing easier if one could make a Tempest profile that makes sure there's always enough snow to meet the threshold, if there is one.

Based on what the game default is for "cold" I think it's safe to assume having temps set at 10 degrees, frequent heavy snowfall over a couple of days as deep as the game can take will meet the game requirements for school snow days if they are available :). I am testing with those numbers and stats. Lets see what happens with it this time around.

It's based on heavy snowfall having fell at least two hours prior to 8am.
