Hi again, when I d/led dx9, it prompted me for which window to put it in? Do I just choose C? Otherwise which folder within C?

Not sure where you are seeing this. But I suspect it's asking you where to put a downloaded installer file temporarily to be run independently after the download is complete, in which case it doesn't matter. Could be your Desktop, Downloads folder, or wherever you like to temporarily place exe files before running them.

Or is it the installer itself that it asking this question upon being run?

I can see it, but that can't be the right file. The SDK is the developer's toolkit for DirectX and is meant for designing and debugging your own creations. Sorry, I can't provide a better path to download right now because I'm on a Mac and the MS website will detect that and show me out the door (or something). But I can a bit later on if needed.

Doesn't the DX affect all videos and graphics? The sims game is the only thing that this is affecting. All other facebook games and other video games work just fine including sim city 2 which I got off of EA.

SimCity 2K was released in 1993. It could not possibly have required DX9c (websites seem to indicated it required DX7 so it must have gotten remastered along the way). In any event, neither that nor Facebook games would be calling on as many sophisticated libraries of runtimes as TS3 and TS4 do.

To be fair, I am only guessing that this is the problem based on what you have provided. TS3 and 4 worked, you installed an older game that did something with DX, and since then or since its removal, it did not.

Sorry, I don't want to waste your time if this is wrong solution path. I don't even know if reinstalling DX11 or 12, which would be the versions current operating systems provide, would help here. Let's see if Chain or someone else here can provide better assistance.

You might also try posting on the TS3 Help board at MTS. There are some very knowledgeable folks there who might be able to help out more efficiently.

THanks Igazor! I honestly don't know why this happened either! I'll try going over to MTS and see what they can do there. I'm very hesitant to go to EA b/c they more often than not, give only pat answers. I knew that SC2 didn't require DX9, but was just saying that this is the only sims game that works.

Hi again, I just found out this morning that my problem is not w/the DX software. When I looked at my stats completely, it said that I have DX11! I'm in the process now of adjusting my settings so that the game will recognize my video card.
