Game Crashing at the Beginning

Post by Sonshine » May 3rd, 2016, 3:08 pm

Hi, I tried to d/l the vintage typewriter a couple of days ago and accidentally d/led another file that came on the same page. I removed that file and now my game completely crashes and won't load at all. Is there any help for this w/o uninstalling? Thanks!

Is this what you downloaded and what was the "other" file?

CC and the vast majority of mods affect the game folder and only the game folder in Documents. They have nothing to do with the game's installation, which all takes place in Programs (Windows) or Applications (Mac). At the very worst, you might have to pull your game folder out of Documents to your Desktop and see if things will launch on the clean game folder that gets generated in its place on the next launch.

But it would help even more to know what you've got there. Could be malware, depending on the source?

No, that wasn't the typewriter. I'll see if I can find the d/l and the other file.

Found the site for the typewriter. It was by Cloudwalker Sims. http://cloudwalkersims.com/vintage-working-typewriter/

I just tried a fresh, default vanilla game and it loaded. So now to the task of finding out what is causing it the crash.

Okay. I got the typewriter from your link after dodging a whole bunch of AdFly nonsense and "Download Here" garbage. It's a single package file, not even zipped. I would be very suspicious of anything else offered up by the surrounding ad-bots there.

Yeah, I've gone through that garbage before w/other sites. Maybe those ads help pay for the bandwidth? No idea! I believe I found the problem though. I accidentally got a couple of sims4 files in there. :

Yeah, those would not be healthy for a TS3 game. :)
