Origin + Sims 3 = Game Startup Issues

Post by chere100 » April 13th, 2016, 8:57 am

Is it possible to create a mod that would stop origin from messing with Sims 3? Since the last update, I can no longer bypass origin or at least I haven't found a way. This has been highly inconvenient since the whole reason I bypassed Origin in the first place was because it (and the launcher) was making it hard to play Sims 3. Now I'm not even sure (the cause of my new problem), but since this problem began after the update, I blame Origin. My problem is that everytime I go to start the game it goes in like usual and then it exits to desktop. It doesn't crash. It's not exiting out of the game. Its shrinking it down and when I try to pull it back up, nine times out of ten it doesn't work. This means that I'm repeatedly trying to get into the game and can't get in. So when I DO get in, I'm terrified of exiting out because I know how much of a pain its going to be to try to get back in. If anyone has had this problem and has a solution, I would be ecstatic to hear it.

Hi Chere100,

Maybe some sort of application, that launches Origin + Launcher + Sims 3 in the right order with thorough checks, but something like a Mod that's highly unlikely.

We have documented issues related to patch 1.69 on this page: Patch 1.69, things we heard about from several sources, but we can't adequate check the possibilities our self as the NRaas crew has decided to remain on patch 1.67.

Since making an application is out of NRaas scope, I am afraid we can't help you any further. Another thing that pops through my head, maybe report the issues on EA/Origin board and maybe they listen to improve their system so such application is not needed.

Wait a minute, what you are experiencing quite possibly has another cause indirectly related to the patch and its tie-in with Origin/Launcher.

Patch 1.69 requires an update to core mods otherwise the player gets a core version mismatch warning on startup. What quite a few players have found is that instead of getting the warning dialog, their game minimizes to the task bar. We're not sure why or under which combination of circumstances this happens.

The good news, if this is the problem, is that there are only 5 core mods in common usage. The other hundreds (thousands?) of TS3 mods out there are script and tuning mods which 1.69 does not impact at all.

NRaas ErrorTrap - An update is available for 1.69 players. <a href="http://nraas.wikispaces.com/ErrorTrap+P ... atch169</a>
NRaas UntranslatedKey - No update, but this one is really for developers.
CMarNYC's XCAS full version - An update is available at MTS for 1.69 players.
Consort's 2X Weight&Fitness - No update, but he was working on it last time we heard.
AwesomeMod - No update available.

So do you have any of these in play that can be updated, if you haven't already? If Awesome is in play, that could be troublesome here as there is procedure to go through to remove it. At least for ongoing saves.

@igazor .. I think it would be a good idea if we included the information you mentioned ^^ above in the Patch 1.69 documentation. Is it okay by you if I add your detail or would you prefer to add it yourself?

Either way works. If you have time to add it in before say tonight, that would be great or else I can get to it later on.

Thank you all! I actually happen to have Awesomemod. I did get the core mismatch warning, but my game also minimized (every time). Perhaps it was the cause like you said.
On the bright side, I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the whole game even though I DO have discs from after September 2012 and it BLOODY WORKED! I'm so happy! I can now bypass the launcher and as a bonus, when I DO use the launcher (I used it to update to 1.67) origin doesn't pop up! Oh happy day! Also, no more minimizing. So~ happy! \^o^/ ❤ THANK YOU! ❤

I have pretty much just added exactly what you have above. Just incorporated existing detail for NoCD and ET in the the above list of the 5 core mods. Not sure about the NoCD that was in the document...that would make 6 core mods .. I changed the 5 to 6 so if that is not the case please edit that ... or anything else you feel needs editing for better clarification.

@chere100 .. Good for you. I have been meaning to look into the detail we have for patching back to 1.67 as I also was able to uninstall the Pre 2012 base game via disc and reinstall and remain on 1.67. I would not recommend everyone try that though as from what I've seen in many threads on other sites many who have tried this have been unsuccessful doing so and we have not been able to identify why it works for some and not others.
I thought the reason it worked from me is after installing the Base Game I immediately applied the Super Patch...reinstalled another DP and reapplied the SP. I did not use and have never used the Launcher for patching. But it worked for you so that is good to know.

I can give information about my game. Could help. I don't know. My base game disc is from 2009. I originally tried just uninstalling and reinstalling it, but it didn't work for me. So I uninstalled and reinstalled everything. Discs from after September 2012 that I own are the ones that weren't made until after that date such as Into The Future. Everything else is from before that date. I also backed up my entire Sims 3 folder from documents for convenience and placed it back into the Electronic Arts folder after I reinstalled everything. It's a good thing I did (backup) because the integrity of my Sims 3 in there had definitely been compromised when I compared the two. I've never used Super Patch. I have a ton of (carefully organized) mods.

@brappl - Clarified. The reason we used to say 6 core mods as that we (or I, anyway) somehow thought that Consort's Grow was also a core mod. He has since taken me out back and thrashed the tar out of...no wait, that wasn't him, that was my typical Saturday night. Too Much Information?

Where was I... oh yes, Grow dropped off the list because it is a script mod. NoCD doesn't qualify; it's just not needed on Patch 1.69 as Origin handles the authentication process itself.

@chere100 - It's only the vintage of the base game disc that matters with respect to the ties to Origin, Launcher, and now Patch 1.69. The age of the EP/SP discs do not make a difference there.
