problems with getting nraas to work

Post by imdonewiththis » March 29th, 2024, 6:42 am

hey! i downloaded mastercontroller, mover, porter and woohooer an hour ago and i can't seem to get them to work. i don't know what i'm doing wrong because i tried to follow the instructions. what i did was i downloaded mastercontroller first and clicked "compress to zip", then "open with...", it changed into a doc with ".package" at the end of its name so i thought i was doing it right. i created the folder "mods" and another one called "packages", placed it within the first one as instructed. then did the same thing with the rest of the mods i downloaded aside from compressing them to zip but they're not working. i also took the folder the sims 3 because that's what the admin suggested in another post but still nothing. thank you in advance!!

There are a few steps you missed or need to change:
.
  • These mods all go in Packages, not directly in Mods.
  • You need to download a Resource.cfg file, which does directly in Mods.
  • Don't to compress the downloads; simply unzip them before placing them in Packages.
  • Delete scriptCache.package too, which needs to be deleted any time you add or remove a mod.
You can get a copy of Resource.cfg here (step 3.2):

How-To-Install#Blunote00s-Check-List

The checklist is helpful overall too, in case you need another resource to review.

thanks for your quick reply. i did what you suggested but when i launched the game, my graphics settings were set back to default, i lost the worlds i purchased from the sims store and i lost my saved families. was that supposed to happen? could that be because i have one the sims 3 folder in the electronic arts folder and another one somewhere else so the game gets confused?

By this, did you mean that you moved The Sims 3 folder in My Documents > Electronic Arts somewhere else?
This is a good thing to start with when troubleshooting, but all of your personal content like the ones you described (saves, installed worlds, options) are stored there. When everything is working as intended again, you can move the files you need back into the new folder.

You'll probably want to move the folders DCCache, InstalledWorlds, Library, SavedSims, and Saves back into the new The Sims 3 folder, as well as Options.ini :)

yes, that's exactly what i mean!! i only wanted to take it out of the electronic arts folder but it made a copy. now there's one the sims 3 folder in the electronic arts folder and another one that i deleted.
my problem basically ends here because now all the nraas mods i've downloaded are working!! thank you so much for all your help <333 however i have another issue that's not linked to nraas that i hope you could help me with. when i launch the game, the settings are set back to default (which is not a problem), my saved sims and families are present, so are the purchased worlds but i can't load my saves - there's this message that pops up: "*save name* cannot load this save game. it may have been saved with expansion pack data that is no longer present on this system". i'm guessing the dlcs could've stayed in the folder i deleted (not permanently tho), i just don't know where to find them. should i reinstall in this case? because everything is running perfectly now but the packs are gone!!
