Stuck Aging Check
I’m in Appaloosa Plains. The stuck Sim is Alani Shepherd. I *think* I found her info via City Hall NRaas (Overwatch I think). According to the info I found, she was a Consignment Specialist, but was Retired (even though she’s a Young Adult). The age up thingy said -3 when I last checked, it’s -4 now. Thing is, she’s an NPC. So she doesn’t live anywhere. What on Earth can I do? I’ve tried looking up about stuck aging Sim but there’s a lot out there and I’m finding navigating the various NRAAS options rather complicated, as I’m still fairly new to it all.

Oh, this is a very common issue with Role Sims, those particular NPCs assigned to role giving objects in town such as cash registers. When they are allowed to age, what tends to happen is that the game (and SP, Overwatch) will push them to age up and report on them as age stuck while at the same time they are being pushed by Register to staff their role giving object. They can't do both things at the same time and the homeless ones can't age up "in private" like other sims can because they don't live in town, they hibernate off the map where the aging process cannot reach them.
The Retired designation is meaningless, the game (or the mods, I forget which) gives them that status so that they aren't seen as free to be dragged into other careers while still a Role Sim with an active assignment.
There are several short and long term solutions. One is that you can use MC Cheats to shove her age back down so that she is no longer due to age up to Adult but that's a very short term fix as she will reach that stage again eventually. Another is to use Register to unassign her from her cash register, then force the age-up with MC or DE, and use Register to reassign her. If she were aging up to elder then she would have to find something else to do since elders cannot be Role Sims. And yet another solution some players use if they don't really care about the particular sim and their assignment is to make them not be a Role Sim anymore (either give them something else or maybe even TA them) and let another sim take over the job.
For more of a longer term solution, you could use SP to disallow aging on a Role Sim caste. I choose not to do this because I don't think it's realistic to keep the Role Sims in town the same age as our own sims age and through all different generations. Others here may have different way of coping with these things that require less fussing around with individual NPCs to get their ages fixed when or just before this happens.

If you have register installed it's meant to allow them to age before they start their shift. EA isn't forgiving. It works most of the time but not always. Igazor's methods are best if you already have register and it's not winning the fight against EA.

I'm afraid that this one is not an example of igazor going senile a bit earlier than planned. I would like to see screenshots with MC Status showing on elder Role Sims if I could, please. Or better yet just tell me how this was done. I can't even use an elder to staff Arsil's Generic Role Sim mod object, it's just not allowed. Same issue with teens, they just cannot be used for such roles and it was confirmed here long ago that there is a core block of some kind on these assignments.KevinL5275 post_id=71649 time=1579630570 user_id=17352 wrote:Oh? Elders can be Service Sims thanks to some programming Chain added to Register years ago (and of course teens can already be babysitters), but not Role Sims. Might the elder mixologists and piano players really be from that pool, meaning the ones we can call up to work a party or gathering at our house rather than staff an object in town as a job with strict shift hours defined? Or might they really be adults who appear to be aging a bit but still within that age stage?

Turn Off Allow Immigration and turn on Allow Resident Assignment in Register. It also depends on what Role you're trying to assign them to as some are for Adults Only and some are for Non-Residents Only.igazor wrote: ↑January 21st, 2020, 1:56 pmThis one is not an example of igazor going senile a bit earlier than planned. So even though I cannot make an explicit Role Sim assignment using an elder myself, you are saying the mod can do so randomly by way of Resident Assignments? I will try that then, but it seems strange that wasn't mentioned so many years ago when I raised the question.sittingbear wrote: ↑January 21st, 2020, 2:18 pmTurn Off Allow Immigration and turn on Allow Resident Assignment in Register. Just thought of something else also check the Role Sim Caste in SP maybe you have elders disabled. You should be able to assign elders as Role sims if that's not it then you might have a mod somewhere interfering.igazor wrote: ↑January 21st, 2020, 2:28 pmSo even though I cannot make an explicit Role Sim assignment using an elder myself, you are saying the mod can do so randomly by way of Resident Assignments? Here you go @igazor:
Also, the sim with the "glass of juice" bubble is an elder pianist.
