Tips on relativity settings so I can make global defaults?

Post by Simphobic » May 29th, 2023, 3:16 pm

I tend to make a global default that I always apply to my games on start cause thats the way I prefer my playstyle. However, when you save certain options I’ve noticed that some don’t carry over. For example, at least when I’ve tested, ”relative motives” is one of them. In theory the best way for me would be to set speed to 19 so my days dont end before they begin and them have all relative motives set to true so its effectively the same as regular 37 just adapted to 19. However since it doesn’t carry over I have looked into the decay/delta options which does carry over. I do not however know exactly how I would structure the settings to make it work in the same way as relative motives. With all relatives motives set to false my sim is sleeping for just a short period of the day and goes to bed late and wakes up super early. Is it possible to obtain the regular EA rythm but adapted to 19 (0.5) without the relative motives options?

You can download the tuning packages here
Relativity

But I am not used to it so I cannot assist more.

I use Overwatch to export all nraas mods settings - also Relativity, so
in the new world simply import via Overwatch.

C-Dark, do the relative motives options save properly for you when exporting and importing through overwatch?

For me, not really so im trying to emulate that with the decay / delta options but not entirely sure what numbers to pick to emulate the relative motives option.

I don't know, I think I haven't changed them :)

We need to wait for other ideas.

C-Dark, math is so hard.. trying to understand what settings to use.

since I halved the time. Aka used 19. That I guess would mean that for example without relative motives nor any other changes. If sleeping for example took 8 sim hours before, it would take 4 hours sim hours now since the animation takes the same amount of time.. I guess.. so to compensate that would require a 0.5 for all deltas. Makes sense. I guess? Same with decay factor. Should also be 0.5 when you think about it to make the reduction slower since well, the same thing should occur, a sim working out for 2 hours with unedited time would mean 1 hour after set speed changes are set to 19 but have same motive drop so would need to be compensated halved exactly so that this new 1 hour simulate a 2 sim hour motive drop when unedited. Yeah I’m gonna try that. But that all depends on how motive drops are calculated if its based on animation or on in game clock :S

thinking out loud :S

C-Dark, hmm I see. Just not sure that I understand what ”relative” means in the context of relativity. The documentation also mentions that ”decay values are not relative”.
