Plan to move the IP population... but how?

Post by SimAlot79 » January 29th, 2023, 6:46 am

Hello.

You might have seen my post here: chatterbox/topic11756 about some problems I do have in the Isla Paradiso world and stubborn as I am I thought of keeping on playing it. But then I got a tip about this save:https://leealeesims3.wordpress.com/2017 ... -uploaded/ and after thinking about it I did decide to give it a try. It's basically the IP world in Sunset Valley (featuring all sims and buildings) and when all components had loaded it did run quite well. But this was the populated save where my sims from IP is not featured*.

So now to my question: Can I download the unpopulated save and use a tool like Porter to transfer all of the sims from the existing IP save into it? How do I do that so that all relations remain intact? There is also two sims in the IP world that I want to bring along as they are befriended with my sims. it's Ariel Walsh (unemployed) and Kaelee Kalani (paparazzi). I think both of them are "homeless", they just work in the world but do not live there. I'm not sure though... Ariel Walsh did show up in the populated save I downloaded so it's possible she's in there...

*When trying the save out I did create a new Save folder and renamed the old one because I was afraid my old saves would be overwritten. I do not think there is any risk for that so if I go for a download of the unpopulated save I will bring my old save folder back.

OK, thank you. So I have to move the families one by one? I thought I could do that all at once... seems to be a very big operation then... :-o

You click f.i. your active house lot icon
- choose Packer pack
- choose ALL the families you want, of course multiple
- then they will all get packed in ONE file (I think you can name it too, so you can find it easily
- then in new world do the same, but instead Unpack :)
- the mod will distribute the sims to the world in different houses

OK, that tutorial was a little bit better.

So what I should do is as follows (?):
*Open up my family
*Pause the game and go around packing all the families as the tutorial describes
*Unpause the game and then exit without saving
*Go to the new world and drop the families as the tutorial describes...

no, you get the list from only one, f.i. click the household lot of your current active lot
and pack, here you can mark all households in the list which you wanna porter.

If you pack a lot it may take a while.

Sorry for the late reply, I have no login on my phone...

I might be a little "lost in translation" so please have some patience... But I think what you say is that I have to pack each family individually. Correct? Both tutorials just shows the method for a single household... (and I'm kind of slow...).

No, as I wrote above and you can see it in the picture turorial the second image
you can mark as much households in the list you want, she marked only family Caps and Lampert,
but you can mark more :) (use Packer -> only on your active lot icon)

Note do not mark the NPC Service households only your real residential families.

Just stepping i here to add that if you Porter up one household at a time, then all relationships and history between the individual households and others will be lost. The point of Porter is to preserve the relationships between all sims being Portered up at once, within a large group.
