Portrait Panel Script Error

Post by AvreageNoot » February 9th, 2022, 8:17 am

Hi, My portrait panel has been glitching out lately and I don't know how to fix it. It keeps giving me a portrait panel script error and basically replaces all of the portraits in my town with one sim and makes every sim unplayable. I have tried going back to a previous save multiple time but the error keeps happening with different sims. I have a couple of the scripterror text files I could send you. I hope someone will be able to help me fix this issue.

Yes, please drag and drop the ScriptError XML files individually, without opening them, directly into the Quick Reply box below. The text editor should take care of them for you.

If that doesn't appear to work for any reason, please don't copy & paste the content of the errors but zip all the ScriptError files together into ONE zip file, which you can do in Windows using the following method:
  1. Select all the files.
  2. Right-click one of the selected files.
  3. In the drop-down menu, choose 'Send to' and then click 'Compressed (zipped) folder'.
  4. A new zip file will appear in the same folder.
Then upload the new zip file to whichever file-sharing website you normally use, such as Dropbox, Mediafire, MEGA or Google Drive and provide us with a link to the file here. Whatever site you use, please make sure you enable the file for public access otherwise we won't be able to download it. Thanks! :-)

Edited to add: Sorry, I forgot to tell you, I split your post into a new topic and moved it to the right forum.

You're welcome! :-)

Most of your ScriptErrors were Correction Logs from ErrorTrap, letting you know it's doing its job and removing all the useless data from your game. There will usually be at least one of these produced every time you play your game. There were also five thumbnail errors and a couple of routing errors too.

To fix the thumbnail errors, install DebugEnabler and try the Fix Invisible Sims option on the City Hall. Does it report any fixes?

For the routing errors, try installing GoHere. It should fix them automatically but let us know if any more ScriptErrors are produced.

In your Correction Logs, I can see that you have the "More Sims In Clubs" mod installed. That one is known to cause problems, regardless of which version you have, so we recommend removing it from your game.

Also listed is "Skydome_EveryoneCanCarryChild" which is the code contained in a couple of mods at MTS. The first one is "All adults can carry children" which has also been known to cause problems and we would recommend removing that one too if you have it. The second mod containing that code is "Children can care for their lil' siblings" but that one should be okay to keep installed. :-)

I installed the mods you recommended to fix the errors and it seemed to help. Got a few more errortrap notifications but no more game breaking bugs. I do have some other issues that I really hope you might be able to give me some advice on. My game used to crash sometimes before this (Mostly during startup), but now it just keeps crashing at any point over and over. I also keep getting error code 12 when trying to save. Do you have any idea what might cause these issues? It's pretty weird to me since I used to run this game on the most crappy laptops ever and now that I finally have a decent pc with 16gb of ram available it still doesn't work. :( I tried almost every fix I could find but none seem to actually repair my game. I really hope you'll be able to help me with this cuz I'm getting pretty desperate.
Also, I couldn't find the more sims in club mod in my mod folder

Did you try the Fix Invisible Sims option on the City Hall and did a notification pop up telling you what it fixed?

Are these new scripterrors just correction logs? Or are they real errors? If so, could you let us see them, please?

Once the game has crashed, before starting it up again, make sure you delete any files left in the CurrentGame.sims3 folder, located in your Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3 folder. Those files are from the crashed save and if left there, they can prevent the game from loading successfully the next time you launch it.
Error code 12 is usually due to the game running out of memory. I know you now have 16GB of RAM but Sims 3 can only use up to 4GB (more like 3.7GB before the game becomes unstable) because it's a 32-bit program. It's best to monitor the RAM usage of the game while you're running it, using the Windows Task Manager, so you can see what it is before it gets too high. If you need details on how to do this, let me know.

What fixes have you tried? Was one of them to cap the frame rate of your graphics card? I'm assuming you now have a decent graphics card in your new PC which is a problem because The Sims 3 doesn't have a built-in frame rate limiter. This means any decent graphics card is going to be overworked unnecessarily if its frame rate is not capped.

We have many tips and tricks on our Tips For Better Game Performance page which may help you going forward but let me know how you get on with all the above. :-)

Sorry, I missed this before. The "More Sims In Clubs" mod is probably not named that in your Packages folder but just "MSC_Mod". Did you search for that?

If you have any new ScriptErrors from the last time you played, upload them and I can have a look to see whether that mod is still installed or not. :-)

No, forgot to do that but I can't get my game to start up anymore. I've been experiencing this issue for a while and I'm usually able to launch the game after 3 pc reboots and deleting the cache files. When the game crashes during startup it forces me ctrl+alt+delete to reboot or sign out because the black screen makes it impossible to switch tabs so task manager is not an option.

Just correction logs, same as last time

Yes, did that right before I started playing this morning and the game hadn't crashed since, but now I'm unable to launch the application.

Hit your Windows key on the keyboard, you'll get access to your task bar.

Describe your crash at startup please? It just goes to a black screen and never launches? It loads some at the main menu then crashes?

The additional errors provided I wouldn't worry about unless they reoccur. Most of that is just EA oddness. The dreams and promises error might be an issue but I'd try the game with only NRaas mods if that one continues and see if it stops.
